I tried my round BHB for the first time with the fantastic blueberry scented Optimum Car Wash. The great news is it nade washing my Expedition in record time with no marring. The not so great news is that the brush smelled like a boar had feasted on blueberries and took a dump in my wash bucket! I had read about the smell, but the words didnt prepare me for the stench. I hope that it will fade with time. Can someone give me some hope?

I've had one for over a year now...smell fades or maybe I'm just getting used to it.

It must fade because I cant comprehend how the hell you could get used to it!

I need Meghan to chime in. She loves her BHB! If she is like most women she wouldnt want something that smells worse than a beer & pickled egg fart in her garage, so hopefully it will fade away. In all other aspects it is superb!

I bought one at detail fest and didn't notice any smell at all. I didn't actually hold it to my nose to test the theory. It did shed a lot at first but that seems to have stoped or greatly diminished. I like the way it cleans.

You sir, have a lovely way with words. Do you write for Hallmark?

Have you used it yet? I have mine on a pole and I couldnt get far enough away! It didnt/doesnt stink when its dry. Kind of like a cow pattie!

Old Tiger,
Who made your boar's hair brush? I'm looking to get a few and would like to know the manufacturer's name.

Thanks in advance,
Derrick

Its the Montana Round with Telescoping handle. It is very well made. If you read reviews others warn you. I just wasnt prepared for the Back to Nature experience. I have to believe the stench will fade. Otherwise, the dumpsters would be full of them. Kidding aside it did a fantastic brush. I dried with HD Guzzlers and they still looked clean afterwards. I think all BHB's will do this but hope it will pass (pardon the pun).

Actually I have used it a lot. Now that I know it is supposed to stink I might be aware of it. I am going to use it this afternoon so I'll let you know. I guess I will sniff a cow pattie first so I can compare the 2.

Another 2 cents

I recommend my Montana BHB from AG. [It was made by a ..... boar!]
When I am done I hang it on the wall so the bristles can freely drip and totally dry...not in an enclosed space. No mold, no rot....
No smell....ever.

Seems like anything in the brush is flushed out during the first wash. Gotta be mold/moisture??

I lied when I said it smelled like a cow pattie. Cow patties smell better. I dunno why mine smelled so bad. Maybe Im just lucky, because you would had to notice this one.

I did the same . After it dried it doesnt stink. I may try it on my XLR today but it would be overkill on such a small car.

I dunno maybe its a Montana thing! Mind if I ask what brand?
Griots.

I have the hand held version and the flow through handle version. Brushwise, both are nice. I just dont like the flow through version as it is very heavy and clumsy. I normally use the hand held one.
