First Many Many Thanks for all the great information on here, I contribute my sucess to this forum! Ok bought a used Yukon and black was the color of choice and I knew I was going to get the right tools for the job on this one. I have always wanted to get a DA and good supplies and now was the right time.

Process

Wash
Clay
Wash again
Orange LC pad with 105
Orange LC pad with 205
Red LC pad with 205
( this really gave it the pop I was looking for, Would this be considered jeweling)

Hand applied Pinnacle Souveran Wax

I am very pleased with the results as this is a DD, and not a show car, however I want to do it right the first time to get the hang of it. I have some very very light hologramming that I saw this morning in the sun (something I can live with and only the trained eye can see). I am thinking that I need a white pad for the 205 and maybe use the black pad for the 3rd step with the 205 instead of the red?

The 105 was very hard to work with, tried everything (posted in another thread), but now that I have it to this point 205 should be all I need from now on. I may try some of the others for the 3rd step like 3M ultra fine, etc.

The pics are below, look and enjoy. I know there were some RIDS that I couldnt get out and just a few others but if you look at the b4 and after, MUCHO Improvemnet!! Definatley not as good as some of the ones on here!!

And the First picture is my Dad, I asked his opinion on how it was coming, He said lookin good kiddo!!:buffing:

Nice job! I have my PC coming this Friday and am excited as well. As for the rids, have you tried hitting it with 205 and a LC White pad? Some might say that 205 on an LC Orange may not be necessary after the 105 and should be using a white pad to follow the 105.

From the info I got from here, if you were to use 205 to finish or to "jewel", your process could be:
105 on Orange
205 on White
205 on Gray (or any pad with no cutting power)

Then again you'll probably get opinions that there better products othe than the 205 for jeweling, like the Menzerna 85RD.

With black you clearly benefit from a Flex and Souveran indeed ... nice results !

You have answered your own questions. 2nd step would be better off white with 205 and 3rd step a black with Ultrafine or other finishing polish. However, you could even add a little and help remove some holograms possibly just using the 205 with a black pad. The red pad is really a soft wax applicator pad for the DA/Rotary, so you essentially were just spreading the 205 with it and wiping it off. Now, that's not 100% the case, because the product is going to cut some, but not like with a little more pad behind it. The gray is the right consistency for your final polishing step, or even a blue (but not on any GM I have ever worked on).

Looks good. Great results - especially for your first time!

What an improvement!! Great job, the reflections are fantastic.

Thanks for the replies, The kit I bought didnt come with a white pad, just orange, black and red. Looks like I have to order a few white ones. and something to get that last little bit out.

So now I have it looking good whats the process to go back with the white pad and then something like 3M Ultrafine? I guess what I am asking is the proper way to strip the wax ot can I just work on top of it and the compound will do the rest. I have another pic that is outside and looks awsome!!

:xyxthumbs::buffing:

If it already looks good and is pretty well swirl free, just go to the 3rd step polish - Menz 85RD or Ultrafine with black pad. All that will do is add some pop and should be enough to remove the wax layer.

Nice work! It's hard to believe that's your first time using a polisher.

LOL!

This is certainly proof that anyone can pick up a DA polisher with a good set of products and get "professional" results! :props:

Looks great. Must have taken a long time to do such a big car

I hate dark color vehicles and you sure made her shine. Simply amazing!

105 with orange was right move, I would of then move to 205 and white pad, and then 205 with a black pad.

The orange pad with 205 probably marred the paint, which is your "hologramming".

Just Menz 85rd, if you want to jewel the paint with a black pad

Tagging along on his thread, but I have a similar one coming up. So I have M105/M205 and a flex on the way. Would you go M105 orange,
M205 White, then 85rd Black ?

Lrr81765, I would say you are correct, thats what I am going to try next time. Or 3M Ultrafine , I have heard good things about it.

Yes to above question and good job on the yukon it looks great.

Thanks for the compliments , so after the black Yukon the white Chevy should be cake right?

To the above you may have to go too an yellow LC pad if the orange doesn't give you enough cut.
