First time with a dual action polisher too, my GG6.

First a wash with Optimum wash and sprays of OPC 3:1 and the safe scrub.

Then a nanoskin medium "claying".

Followed by the sanding, started with grit of 500, followed by 800, 1000, 1500, and 3000.

Then Hyper compound on Opt compound microfiber pad, then Hyper polish on Opt polish microfiber pad.

The GG was very hard to control at first, but got easier as it got cleaner.

Also, the Meguiars unigrit 3" backing plate, the screw on the inside completely stripped off and fell off, I was really surprised... don't know what I could have done wrong. Thankfully I had the 3" lake country I used to finish.

Anyhow, the right, rather, driver side lens still isnt as clear as the other side. Is there anything you guys recommend? I didn't seal it yet. It is also the picture that makes it look different, but either way still not as clear as other.

excellent transformation!! Clear headlights really make a car look so much better

Did you sand by hand or with a machine?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using AG Online

Nice job!

You should think about getthing something to seal it with like Opti-Lens. The coating they offer has a UV protection in it that will keep the light from fading.

Yea that is what I used actually. I didn't mention because I wasn't sure if I was done. I went out later and was satisfied and sealed them. Thank you!

thanks all! I'm feeling proud of myself! lol. I even posted my work on fb and some coworkers already asked if I charge!

You sure this was your first time?
Looks like a pro did it:)
Great turn around man:)

Father-

Bang up job on the lights!

Regarding the 'asking about your work'... there's your sign!

lol yes I'm sure! learned from the best place possible!

Thank you, it sure is!

Just as an update, the Opti-Lens did not hold up. I posted on Dec 2013, they were already foggy again how they are currently actually, and have been that way even in Dec 2015, so not even 2 years of protection.

You'll be lucky to get a solid years protection off of any regularly available sealant or headlight coating let alone years. This also depending on the climate where you live. When products like opti-lens say the lifetime of the vehicle, its probably correct to assume thats the absolute best case scenario for a garage kept vehicle that sees little to no sunlight and/or other harsh elements like snow, rain, etc. Combine those factors with little to no upkeep after restoration and you're going to find them going bad on you again in no time. Truth is no otc "coating" or "sealant" for that matter is going to protect a headlight even close to that of a factory coating and or those products commercially/specifically designed to be sprayed on headlights. That said, many of said products are trade secrets and next to impossible to obtain.

I'd have to disagree when they use a word like permanent, especially from Optimum who says they work directly with car manufacturers.

Funny you should disagree... Take it from someone whose family has been in the autobody/painting business for 30+ years... i think your own results/outcome should tell you exactly why you should agree.
