So got my truck back from the bodyshop a month back. Had to get a door repainted. Didn't look too bad when I picked it up in the shade, but after getting it home I realized it was in pretty bad shape. The door repainted had cross hatch wet sanding marks ALL over. On top of that, it had bad buffer holograms on the entire door.
I've been wanting to learn how to polish for a couple years ever since I paid someone over 600 dollars for my first paint correction. So I went ahead and picked up a PC7424 and figured I could kill two birds with one stone, fix the door and learn how to polish.
First off, here is the door... buffer holograms galore
Got it in the garage now, this was the only portable light I had to show the defects, not the best but it did its job. Still can see how bad the finish is with the weak CCFL lighting.
This is how it left the shop, I swear...
A little 50/50
After multiple passes...
I think I almost got the hang of this.
Ended up doing the entire driver side, I think it took me almost 6-8 hours. I guess some of these guys prices are pretty justifiable.
The best part is after all that work, turns out I have to get the door sprayed again. The color matching is way off and I don't want to drive around with a different color panel
