First time polishing, something isn't right!

you can use 10-20% IPA (isopropyl alcohol from the drugstore) and distilled water or you can wash the car.

I think I need to get the car indoors and get some good lighting or a good inspection light. I will give it a shot on saturday and see what comes out. I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions. L

Last thing... when I am done with the polishing what would you use to wipe down the car before applying DP Poly-Coat as a LSP??

Only if you really want to verify your work, otherwise you are just running a higher risk of reinstalling swirls IMHO.

That's interesting Bill

so is the paint more susceptible to marring after polishing such that wiping it down or washing could put swirls in whereas it would be less so once you get a coating of sealant or wax down?

Has anyone else experienced this?

If you are not happy with just the TSR alone you may want to try M105 on a light cutting pad (i like the cobra orange pads) followed by a polishing pad with M205. The M105 takes out the heavier swirls and the M205 usally takes out what the M105 leaves behind. Try a small test spot first as always. I personally love TSR but the M105 and M205 works really well on heavily swirled paint witch by the way it dosen't look like your car is but pictures can be deceiving.
