First time snorkeling

The snorkeling vest comes in handy for staying on top of water in shallow water and thus not damaging the underwater life. But we like to go underwater a bit to get closer to what we want to see ,but you need to learn to clear your snorkel

I agree it makes diving hard. It might also get snagged on coral and rocks and deflate depending on where your a snorkelling. When I lived in Hawaii there were some areas with deep pools surrounded by rocks and reefs which came very near the surface. It wasn't uncommon for an unexpected wave to push you into or over those obsticles and you could get a little scrapped up. In these situations, wearing a rash guard shirt helped prevent scratches and also provided a line of defense agains sea urchin quills.

I snorkel n hawaii divers and have only used the bottom setup. Make sure you get anti foggy solution. Practice in a pool before you go. And yes get flippers n thin water socks to keep blisters away. Buy mask n fins all from a dive shop for proper fitting don’t just buy anything online. You need to have the mask fit your face correctly or you will get leaks !!
Absolutely! Always test your mask in a pool first, use anti-fog solution, and get properly fitted gear from a dive shop. Flippers and thin socks prevent blisters, comfort matters underwater! Quick question, do you prefer snorkeling or scuba diving more when exploring new dive spots?
