I only had two dots on my pad, so I don't think I over applied.
100% the opposite.
You under applied.
Don't buy into the parroted talk all over YouTube and Facebook and even the forum world of using
Pea Sized Drops
That's ridiculous. You need some "amount" of product just to provide lubrication to the surface not to mention you need abrasives, polishing oils or agents plus the protection ingredients.
Here's an article on how to prime a pad and while I no longer prime pads like I show in the article, (I show how I prime pads in my classes), I DO SHOW the correct amount of product to put on a pad to work with.
Here's my article from 2011
How to prime a foam pad when using a DA Polisher
And here's an excerpt from the article and even 7 years ago I did my best to share the fallacy of "pea sized drops"
Adding "Working Product" to the primed pad
Some people will recommend 3 to 4 pea size drops of product as the proper amount of product to use and this can be correct for
concentrated products or working small sections and if you follow this advice make sure you are not
under-lubricating the surface being worked.
Pea size drops of product
For some products and paint conditions, you may want more product on the surface working for you. Here's an example of dime size drops of product.
Dime size drops of product
You need to simply use more product and you'll never see a dusting problem with 3D HD Speed.
I have a class at 3D in Santa Clarita in about 2 weeks. One of the topics I cover in all my classes is
Production Detailing
That's when you use a CLEANER/WAX on a DAILY DRIVER.
It's knowledge and a skill set everyone that details cars needs to have, be they enthusiasts or pros.
It's going to be a great class. Should be packing for it today or tomorrow.
