Got my PE8 last week and was itching to try it out. So I decided to pull off my rear license plate and polish the panel behind it.

As you can see. It was pretty nasty.

I decided on a 2 in pad with FG400 to do the first step. Just like any polisher I primed the pad and went to town. Because of the small diameter in pad size I kept the dial at around 2 max. This was plenty of speed for this job.

As you can see, I was able to fit into all the tight areas. The machine ran nice and smooth and is very quiet.

After the FG400, I used the black 2 in pad with SF4000 to finish with. Then recoated that area with BF Crystal coating.

Here it is all polished but before the coating.

Overall the machine is perfect for intricate detail work. My only little issue is the side mounted rocker switch. I feel a pressure switch would be better suited.

Awesome Justin! Way to put that precision polisher to use. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to have seen a trigger switch like its bigger brothers.

Wow! I would almost hate to put the plate back on and cover that up! Nice job with a nice machine and not all of us can do that. Enjoy it.

Wow! Amazing job! That sure eliminated those nasty water spots.

Seems like the PE8 is worth it for jobs like these.

It looks beautiful!

For an area like that, I usually have to polish by handle.

Thanks I thought the same thing about covering my nice work!

Sure is worth it! Glad I made the purchase.

Thank you. I used to do the same

Beautiful!! I have the PE8 and what a great little rotary. PLEASE TELL ME you have had no hologram issues!! I know I have not had any HOLOGRAM issues at all!!

I am hoping to curtail the myth of holograms!

Your work is awesome!!

Great job man. It is a great little tool. I totally agree with you on the switch being a pain.

:iagree:I hate that rocker switch. It was said to be a safety feature.

I already have it was my Black 2013 Mustang GT and a Black 2014 Mercedes 350. No hologram issues at all. I believe the PE8 is too small or not a beast of a rotary to have any concern.

Additionally, any one with experience can eliminate that problem. I am not saying I am an expert with a rotary far from it. I just know using the PE8 I realized that with proper technique you can avoid "holograms".

Either way, the Flex PE8 is a great rotary and a great addition to my Flex 3401.

Did you polish the entire car or just small sections? Using a rotary on black paint on door panels with no halos shows great skills. Remember I'm taking about buffing out bad paint. Compound and then a finishing polish. I still need a DA to finish down.

Ahh I see your point...just small areas....no large areas. I will use my Flex 3401 to take care of that. As for using the PE8 on the bad paint areas I have not had any "hologram" issues.

IMO the PE8 is too small to cause any serious "hologram" issues.

No holograms here with both my rotary polishers. PE8/Makita. I make sure not to apply too much pressure and let the machine do the work. Especially when finishing. SF4000/black pad and a rotary with light pressure finishes awesome.

So pumped. Got an open box sweeeeeet deal today. Can't wait to test drive this beast. I do a lot of jeeps and curse at each one. This should make my life a lot easier.

Watched Mike and clearly there are holograms. Sucks cause I want a small polisher.
