First try (mini) with GG6

Last Wednesday my new GG DA showed up but I was heading out of town on a Bike trip last Thursday AM so I had to patiently put it on my workbench.

I got back from the trip early this afternoon and the front of my Bike was covered with 500 miles worth of bugs.
I wanted to get the bugs off immediately so I broke out the Harley Bug remover, gave the fairing a good spraying down, and cleaned the bugs off. Repeated the process to get the remaining goo.

And there sat the GG DA looking at me the whole time. The main reason I bought the DA is to get the swirls and haze out of the paint on my Harley, which is black.

So I washed and cleaned about a 1 foot by 1 foot area on the fairing. That area has a fair amount of light swirls in the paint.

I got out the GG, put the 3.5" backing plate on it, put a 4" LC orange light cutting pad on the backing plate, put polish on the pad....... and saw my wife come into the garage with her mouth hanging open and eyes wide. "Uh-oh" is all she could say.
I laughed and said, "Sometimes you just have to give it a try". (I have no experience with a DA)

SO I gave it a try.... primed the pad, spread the product, and then did my passes. Turned off the DA, grabbed a clean microfiber, took a deep breath, and wiped the area down gently. Then the moment of truth as I grabbed my very bright shop light to see the results. All swirls.... GONE!!! I literally said out loud, "It can't be that easy".

So.... I only did that small area but I was shocked at how easily the DA removed the swirls. Next weekend... the entire bike gets the entire treatment.

Damaging the paint on my car has always been my biggest fear. This is the main reason why I've never purchased a polisher. I have no experience with a DA but it sounds much easier than I thought. I may have to take the plunge.
 
Your a brave man, I first tried it out on a lease and rental vehicle to build up confidence.

Your right though, easy with a DA.

I too was like you but the GG 6" RO makes things so easy, there's NO fear at all, its all in how the machine works that makes it VERY safe to use....GO FOR IT! It even comes with a dvd to show you how to use it with helpful tips, plus Richard Griot is pretty funny on the dvd, LOL! Once you get the 6" you'll probably wanna get the companion, the 3" machine, great for tight areas and headlights too! Some say its not strong enough but I for one have never had an issue with it but I'd like to pass along a little tip when using the 3" GG RO to do paint correction....get a mf polishing and/or compounding pad, makes thing a lot easier.

OP, welcome to the wonderful world of using the 6" GG RO, keep that bike looking good for when you hit the Tail of the Dragon !

Well at the Bike event I was at, a guy had a booth set up with "JaxWax". I'd never even heard of it and walked by that table a half dozen times over twop days. I never buy this kind of stuff at Bike events.

On the second day as i was passing his table again there was a motorcycle "club" there talking to the guy. So I stopped and listened. The leader of the group had a Harley Rocker with polished aluminum wheels that had white spots all over them. He said he had tried every product he could get his hands on to clean those spots off and nothing worked.

The wax guy told him to go get his Bike and he would show him how well the metal polish worked. Meanwhile I started talking to two of the other guys from the "club". They had the same problem with their wheels on their Bikes. I suggested P21S soap as something they might tyr.

Anyway, the guy brought his Bike, the wax guy got out the polish and a microfiber, and he rubbed a small spot on the wheel for about 10 dseconds. He rolled the microfiber over and gave the spot a quick buff..... all spots were gone.
The owner of the Bike couldn't get the money out of his pocket fast enough to buy the bottle of polish. Then the other two guys each bought a bottle. That wheel looked mighty fine.

So when the club left I started talking to the guy. I was impressed that he was confident enough in his products that he told the guy to bring the Bike in without even seeing the wheels. Then the product actually worked. Those types of spots on Bike wheels are tough to get completely out most of the time (the guy's Bike was spotless otherwise).
So I talked to the wax man about his swirl remover. I told him what I was looking to correct in my paint on my Bike. he said his product would easily do the job and offred a 100% of my money back including shipping if I wasn't happy with his product.

So I really had nothing to lose by trying the product. I bought it.

I googled "JaxWax" when I got home and found a fair amount of info. A lot of car guys love the stuff. Some are just "eh" about it.

I'll probably use it to do my 2009 Ford Fusion that has 123K miles on it and get something else from AG to use on my Bike.
 
JaxWax. I'll google it. BTW did the guy have Rocker or a Rocker-C
