So, I've been reading and learning a LOT here, so thanks for that.

I picked up my new truck last tuesday, so it's been one week exactly. I literally had to argue with the dealer to get them to NOT detail my truck. When I say argue, I mean I literally had to physically take my keys after I signed the papers and refuse to give them back. They tried to tell me that I HAD to get my truck "detailed." Needless to say, I didn't want the custom installed swirls they had to offer.

Anyway, I washed and waxed it on Sunday, and I am happy to say that I didn't install a single swirl. I did find two VERY light scratches on the hood, but I could probably work those out by hand with some M205.

Tools used:

Gilmour Foam gun
4 grit gaurds
McGuires Gold wash
McGuires genuine wool mitt
Leaf blower
About 10 MF towels
AMMO Skin
AMMO Spit
AMMO Plum for the wheels
AMMO wheel woolies

My method was:

Gilmour foam gun loaded with McGuires Gold Wash,
2 bucket wash, with 2 grit guards in each bucket,
McGuires wool wash mitt. I rinsed after each pass with the foam gun just to ensure that I was floating any debris away.

After the wash I dried with my Ridgid shop vac. (it turns into a leaf blower - best 100 bucks I've ever spent!) After is was completely dry I proceeded to apply a generous coating of AMMO Skin, with two coats applied to the flat surfaces that receive the most sunlight.

Anyway, I'm definitely open to any critique or suggestions you guys may have. I ordered a PC7424xp and some McQuires M105 and M205. I plan to paint correct the neglected G37 in the background. (my wife's car)

Wow... but good job tho! :dblthumb2:
I am assuming this is so because of the survey you need to complete. IME, there is always a section about if the car was delivered clean.

Good job, i wouldn't apply two coats of something in one day as the product often needs to cure, but either way, you did very good!

Looks good to me... be sure when you take your truck back for any service to read this article and prepare accordingly.

My ibook is a great resources for the Porter Cable and any PC "type" of tool. There's a link to it in my Sig Line.

Besides that just do some more reading and watching videos before you start polishing and when you do start, be sure to start by doing a Test Spot.

Here's two more that are very good, I always recommend reading the troubleshooting guide before getting into trouble.

Wow, thank you for the excellent information! Very cool to get a reply from the man himself. Very refreshing to see a person of authority who actually cares enough to type out posts and include links. :)

Also, just realized that my autocorrect on this Mac was "fixing" my spelling of Meguiars. That doesn't help my street cred any. Haha

Love that color on the truck, lots of products on here will make it look 10' deep, not that it looks bad but just sayin'!

Ammo skin is can be layered fairly quickly, so I think since Larry said that about it. So I think he's good :)

On this forum we take pride it providing real help and that includes links to in-depth articles and how-to videos, not simple one-liners or worse, having someone tell you to use the search button.

We'll give you a pass this time...
