Yep you read the title right, we were chosen by Fisker Automotive to maintain their fleet of 27 luxury electric cars. Yesterday we had 10 of them in the shop representing $1.2Million worth of cars. Pretty exciting stuff. I was sorry that I couldn't be at DetailFest to represent my Black Wow this year, but securing this client certainly made up for it. :xyxthumbs:

Here is a set from the first car we did for them as a test to show our capability

Best of all we are using Sonax Full Effect on the wheels, Meguiar's APC+ and HyperWash for the foaming and cleaning, and Prima Hydro for the spray wax. Various other Prima products are being used to remove light defects.

Each vehicle undergoes our 16 step wash method.

Ultimate Way to Wash a Vehicle
(Best on previously waxed vehicle, non waxed vehicles require twice as much water)

1. Identify dirtiest parts of the car and select the best correction method. Decide if this wash is a maintenance wash or first step wash before detailing(production).
2. Spot spray Meguiar's APC+ for insect residue, heavy dirt and contamination, bird poo
3. Heavy brake dust on wheels cleaned with Sonax Full Effect. Brush as needed with wheel brushes.
4. Spray side walls with Meguiar's tire foam and scrub with nylon brush
5. Decide whether distilled water pre-rinse is necessary. Pre rinse will remove extreme contamination but will shorten foam dwelling in next step.
6. Cover all surfaces with foam cannon. Foam mixture is dependent on type of wash.
Maintenance wash will include Prima Mystique polymer soap, production wash will use only Meguiar's Hyper Wash with more surfactants.
7. Let foam dwell as it softens contaminants. Add two bucket wash method with lambswool wash mitt and Dirt Guards for excessively dirty and unwaxed cars.
8. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water using Kranzle pressure washer.
9. Blow dry water off paint and remove any standing water in crevices and grills or vents. Pay special attention to side mirrors and emblems, tail lights, license plates, roof cracks, sunroof seals, gutters, tires, lug holes, and any place that catches and holds water.
10. Dry with SCD Belgian microfiber waffle weave towels as needed
11. Dry glass with microfiber towels
12. Open doors and wipe down door jambs and door hinges
13. Blow any remaining water
14. Dress tires with water based dressing to keep any sling down to a minimum. HyperDress wheel wells.
15. Perform final inspection by Inspecting paint for any spots or residue. Spot clean with microfiber and Prima Slick.
16. Apply Prima Hydro Spray wax if desired and don't forget the door jambs and sills.

That should be a fun client. They seem to really care about the appearance of their designs.

So from what you posted none of the cars needed any correction? Just a complete wash/cleaning.

Yep they are very cool. I posted one day of doing mini details..exterior and interior work on their engineering prototypes. Their press cars will need correction and all of the fun stuff and that's coming down the line. Actually of the 10 cars we worked on yesterday, they all could use correction, but because they are mules, just getting them cleaned up was a huge step for them as they hadn't been washed in months.

Congrats!!!!!

I saw one in black metallic, definitely needed correction.

Thanks!! There something interesting about the "metallic" in that it's not metallic flake but glass so it reflects differently. From what the engineers have told me is that if anyone gets into an accident-- trying to paint match them will be impossible. From what I've seen so far, the paint isn't too hard to work on. I rubbed out some abrasions by hand for a quicky repair. All of these cars pictured on my FB are swirled and scratched pretty badly. But they know better now, and have said they will have me correct them down the line.

Congrats!!!!!

I know, that's crazy. lol.

I am on the corporate side of the auto business so I have some knowledge - please be very careful with your invoicing - don't let them get too far ahead of what they owe/pay....Fisker is still in start up mode and has heavy expense now vs income....Their products are very exciting, but they have yet to see their revenue streams come on line...good luck!

Thanks! Fortunately they are paying as the jobs are completed, so we get payment by the end of each day. :xyxthumbs:

Much appreciative of your insight!

Richard
