Fixing to buy Porter cable dual action. Need advice.

I have a 99 f150 its black. It has water marks oxidation swirls and such. Was wondering what pads to use to apply compound aswell as remove compound then what to use foe pre wax glaze also to wax what pads for this? Any input is very appreciated
 
Try this out:

5" backing plate (read http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/27166-how-maximize-your-da-polisher.html)
lake country 5 inch backing plate, 5 inch backin plate, 5 inch hook and loop backing plate

5.5" pads
2 - 6 packs: 5 orange (compound), 5 white (polish), 2 black (glaze, wax, sealant)
Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Foam Pads, buffing pads, Lake Country curved edge pads, polishing pads

Compound
Meguiars Mirror Glaze #105 Ultra-Cut Compound, polishing compound, ultra cut compound, paint compound, car polish

or

Meguiars Ultimate Compound, polishing compound, rubbing compound, meguiars rubbing compound, meguires, meguiars polish, auto compound polish

Polish
Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish, final polish, car polish, M205, Meguires

or

Meguiars Ultimate Polish, meguiars car polish, meguiars polishes, mcguire's

Glaze (if you want it)

Wax

The PC is a good machine, but you've got a large vehicle. Consider buying a Flex 3401 instead. I own both, the Flex probably cuts polishing time in half. If you're on a budget, the PC is certainly good. If you do the latter, get the 3" backing plate.
 
If you're buying a kit and want 5.5" pads all you need to do is ask AGO to substitute them. Of course that means you need the 5" back plate.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm having a busy night. Just had our baby last month so I'm in the middle of feeding and getting her to sleep. Ill definatly read up on all your suggestions. I currently have megs UC and pc along with there wax for darker paints. Is this sufficient? Of course I'm asking before reading all the links, which puts the cart before the horse a little. Excuse my confusion a little exhausted at the moment.

+1... I will also add that if you are handy with tools then the learning curve with the flex will be rather short.
 
What about the harbor freight with the mods? I've been doing alot of research and reading alot. Is this a machine worth the 50 bucks plus mods? As opposed to the pc?

it has a little more power than the PC and about half the price as well...
 
OP you might want to consider the Griots Garage 6" Polisher--it is considerably more powerful than the PC and has a lifetime warranty. Equipped with a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads there isn't anything it can't handle and it's about the same price as the PC.
 
Agree, get a Flex. Time is money. Time you save w/Flex will more than make up for extra cost over PC.
