FK425 vs DG Aquawax

Like everyone has said, AW is NOT a QD, that's for sure but OP, if your looking for a good QD why not buy some rinseless wash, like DG's for instance, and make some out of that? Its the most cost effective way to go and if you buy a gallon you'd have more than enough to make a gallon of QD (16 oz of rinseless makes a gallon IIRC) and the left over can be used to make some clay lube too....oh yeah the main reason for the rinseless wash....to wash your car easily!

I appreciate all the replies. Now I'm leaning towards AW but I'm not certain. What is the main difference between the two types of product d vs spray sealant. They both shine and protect? What else differentiates them??

AW is a spray sealant which is more durable than a QD. FK425 is a QD which has light cleaners and a touch of polymers for the shine. FK is used for a quick touch up between washes. AW is more of a durable sealant used on a clean surface.

AW should only be used on a spotless and clean car. That is one of the differences between it and a QD. Any QD will clean up a little dust, fingerprints and bird bombs while leaving a bit of a shine in the process. AW is a spray sealant and as such, it is a "topper" product meaning it enhances protection as well as gloss. In fact, one of the best uses for AW is after a wash and blow dry. While the car is still somewhat wet, spray it on panel by panel and rub it in as you dry the remainder of the water from the car. You can dry and protect in one step with AW.

To throw a wrench in the mix - i use CG Extreme Synthetic Acrylic Detailer

Chemical Guys Extreme Synthetic Acrylic Detailer 128 oz. Refill, quick detailer, quick detail spray

I'd vote FK425 over this just slightly, and that slight difference could have been due to many different variables when i used the one vs the other (no side-by-side tests).

I did not notice any more 'dust attraction' with CG than FK, just sayin. I've not used this as a drying aid, just as a QD (bird bombs, light dusting/soiling, etc).

Otherwise, as others have stated, D156 is my go-to 'topper' or drying aid/after wash product. So easy - effortless - great shine. AW is pretty fine too. I'm planning on some duragloss after the D156 runs its coarse.

CG Extreme Synthetic Acrylic Detailer is my favourite for sure. FK425 is a close second for me.

So it sounds like both may be great products to keep on hand? Not exclusive of each other

The main difference is, again,:

One can handle some light dirt/dust but leaves only very light protection: FK

One should be used on a just washed vehicle, but offers more protection: AW

FK 425 seems super easy for me to use. I guess it depends on the LSP, as some say it can be tricky. If your looking for a nice 100% goof proof good quick detailer that can be used in sun/shade check out PB's Spray and Gloss. That stuff is the real deal and is pretty much streak proof. Not quite as slick as FK or AW, but leaves a very glossy look and is a joy to work with. Not to mention you will be constantly sticking your towel up to your nose to smell the apple scent.

Duragloss fast and clean would be their detail spray, and yes it does blow away fk425.

after a lot of reading I think I may just go with Chemical Guys V7 as it seems to do all that I am looking for

No, you must not go with V7! You must not go with AquaWax or OCW or FK425 either. You must go with ALL of them - every spray wax, QD and spray sealant you can find. If you find one on BOGO, buy it. If you see one in a store, put it in the shopping cart. You must leave no stone unturned in your quest to get every one of these products you can, even if you use it only once to see what it can do for you. Only then can you call yourself an AutoGeek!!

Where are you getting info saying that V7 strips lsp?? Link please
