My mobile company was just offered an opportunity at a local car lot that has roughly 350 - 400 cars/trucks/suv that need to be cleand twice a week. I am struggling with getting pricing together and could really use some help/advice. They will provide dio-water.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you just washing them? Will you be using a pressure washer?

Figure out how many you can do per hour and then make the hourly rate slightly higher than your standard rate to compensate for higher chemical usage. For instance if you work for 50 an hour normally and you can get done with 10 cars per hour then bump up to 60 an hour or $6 per car.

My 2 cents.

Wow, I was going to suggest $10-$15 per car since he is in SoCal and they are providing the water.

Does the dealer want them just washed or prettied up? If it's just a wash and some tire dressing then figure how many you can do an hour and add in your expenses for gas, washing solution and tire dressing as well as the higher end business you may miss doing the job.

Just remember dealerships are tricky. They look for the lowest price. I offer fleet service here for just cleaning can not get more than $3 a car. Need to know your numbers you can work with. You doing it yourself or with helpers?

$3 per car? You are letting them screw you. I certainly hope you are doing high volume at $3 per car.

One of the reason I do not do dealerships. dont work for pennies.

Sorry, I thought you were saying that you were doing the work for $3 per car. Yeah, dealerships want you to work for free. That's why I walked away from a local car lot.

All we have to do is a spray and sport clean. No drying since we will use Dionized water. Spot clean windows as well as dash. Have the equipment to do it just gotta figure out how many cas we can do per hour. Should be a nice account and may lead to more. I honestly think I will end up in that $3.00 range. My goal would be to be around $60 - $75 per hour, which would be around 20 - 25 per hour. But at 350 cars would have my guys here FOREVER. It will take me to figure out how many cars we can do. It would have to be in the 40 cars per hour range to be able to get out in 8 hours. At that rate it would be $120 per hour. (Sorry I am thinking out loud)

That sounds like a great oppurtunity (if priced right) - 350 car fleet! There is a company here in Tn that I saw pressure washing cars at dealerships with a crew of maybe 5 guys rigorously going to work on these cars. They were pressure washing them and drying off, basically that was it. I asked a dealer how much they pay for their services and he responded 1.25 a car!!!!!!!! 1.25!!!! I couldn't believe it!! I can see it being nice to have a solid consistent flow coming in from the business (once a week I believed he said, dusting off the cars).

The problem for me would be
* How on earth can you keep a good crew that can't be making more than minimum wage at those rates? Plus they were working their butts off!!! Seems like the turnover rate for employees would be ridiculous.
* Seems to be adding a lot of risk for little return. Hitting up so many cars so fast with a crew that more than likely doesn't have any worries because they are making chump change, sounds to me like something bad will happen sooner than later. Like an "oops, I fell and scratched the car cause I was going to fast" , or " Going so fast from being over worked and quality is compromised which means your name can be compromised.

These may be good selling point as well with getting the dealerships to spend the extra money over the guy making $10 profit a lot after employees, taxes, and products (if they are legit). Let them know that the dollar or two more than you charge per car ensures them better quality employees and less risk for issues. My 2 cents - hope this helps!?!?!?
