I have a Rupes paired with the 5" BP and love it, best machine I've owned for paint correction. I use my other older DA's for people who simply want a "clean and shiny" finish (AIO's), but the Rupes does all the heavy lifting when it's needed.

So, does anyone have both the Rupes and the Flex, or is that simply overkill? Are there really definitive advantages that I would see from using the Flex over the Rupes?

Thanks guys!!

I have both Flex and Rupes. I will use the Rupes for the large panels since it is a smoother polisher to operate but will switch to my flex to work on the front and rear bumper.

For heavy correcting, i think a flex is the way to go. The main reason i say this is because rupes course pads allow too much air flow, thus drying the product inside the pad, which turns to dust. Maybe the rupes microfiber does not do this.
I bought a flex and rupes 21 in the same week, and used them both just yesterday. I like the flex better. Maybe significantly better. Catch a sale over at pinnaclewax, or blackfire and get yourself one. You definately won't regret it.

Sure, I have both and would never be without any of them.

The Flex is a beast, paired with 4" backing plate and 5" Hybrid pads it's the best companion to a Rupes 21.

I say this because although the Rupes works wonders, there are some panel shapes and sizes it won't fit perfectly. That said, it's likely you get uneven results at the end, on a higher or lesser extent, depending on vehicle's design.

This will never happen if you have a Flex for those areas. In fact, I may work a panel with the Rupes, and 'redo' just after the parts where it 'struggled' with the design using the Flex. It's very fast and easy to do if you have both tools ready to go, and will get your results to another level.

Otherwise, I may cut with Rupes and Microfiber and finish with Flex and Foam, or the opposite (Flex with cutting foam or even wool, finished by the Rupes)... Combinations are endless.

They are both at the TOP, but each tool complements the other. When you have lands of flat and large areas, the Rupes is King. You will save time using it.

When you have complex curves and designs, Flex is King.

Whenever you have both tools at hand to get the job done, YOU will be the King my friend, go for it, !

*PS: My 'other me' knows that Flex will be releasing something new the end of this year. That said, I'd wait a bit for more info because if they offer something even better than 3401 (how's possible?!), it may be your best choice.

Just to keep the eye opened.

Kind Regards.

For me the 3401 is the best DA on the market - it can do everything well. I've had bad luck with Rupes.

Thanks for the info guys! I love the Rupes and it saves me so much time compared to a regular DA. But maybe I should reconsider pairing it with a Flex. I'm not in a huge rush, plus gotb few other things a little more pressing $$$wise for the business, so I think I'll hold off and see if that news comes out, cause if I can get a better one in a couple months, maybe that's worth it. Thanks again everyone, appreciate it!

can't go wrong with the flex, especially now that you have a variety of backing plate and pads to accommodate it...
