Flex 3401 speed fluctuation

Has anyone experienced their Flex 3401 fluctuating DOWN in speed when locked in? For example, when locked at 4.5-5, the machine will fluctuate down to what feels like 3-3.5. To the point where I have to lock at 5-5.5 or so to keep the speed up. The brushes here replaced less than 5 or so machine hours ago by Flex. Thoughts?

Are you plugging the power cord directly into an electrical outlet or using an extension cord? If an extension cord, what gauge?

Good call! Using a hand me down cheap extension chord. I will look into that. FWIW I did try searching....must have used the wrong query. ;-)
