Hello, I am new to the forum and have recently purchased a flex 3401. Planning to us it to keep all my boy toys looking sharp. I am wondering what additional item I need to purchase to make the job as easy as possible. One of my toys is a boat which is the primary reason for the Flex. It is newer and in good shape so not in need of correction at present. Decided to go with the 3401 to learn how to use the machine instead of a rotary so maybe I won't over do it. What are the best pads colors and should I get different size backing plate and pads? Thanks in advance for the help.

Any of the 6.5" foam pads work great on the Flex 3401

6.5" Flat Pads
6.5" CCS Pads
6.5" Hydro-Tech Pads
6.5" Hybrid Pads

Also the 6.5" Purple Foamed Wool Pads are great for correction and grunt work.

Thanks, I got orange and red CCS with it...was thinking about getting the smaller backing plate to use for smaller spaces. Wasn't sure if that would be the right direction since it is an orbital or should purchase a rotary.

Here's a few articles from my article list, more to come in the near future...

Definitely get the adapter plate so you can use 4" pads and then get either some Hydro-Tech or CCS 4" pads.
