I have seen some Flex-specials being run before:
Gotta keep an eye peeled!

And:
You're talking about the FLEX XC 3401 VRG...correct?

If so...then you are probably aware that it has a counterclockwise rotation. I've read on AGO, and other detailing forums, that some people aren't too fond of this action.

However:
{Taken from AG's website.}

"The orbital rotation of the FLEX XC 3401 Polisher simulates the circular movement of the human hand while polishing..."

I'll add between the words: human and hand...
the word "right"...
So it will then read:

"The orbital rotation of the FLEX XC 3401 Polisher simulates the circular movement of the human right hand while polishing..."

Bought mine recently 15% off + free shipping

I got mine earlier this year. 25% off, and free shipping. I bought the Flex Pinnacle XMT. Package.

If you can bank your money, wait until Memorial Day or some time around spring. You'll get one hell of a deal.

forced rotation = will not stop and is beneficial on curves where traditional DA's will slow or stop rotating. it's essentially a hybrid of a rotary and DA all in one. with the lc interchangeable backing plate system you can use 4"-6.5" pads which makes it versatile to use on all parts of the vehicle. if you can't justify the cost of it, buy a GG6. it's plenty more power/torque than the PCXP and has a great warranty as well. you can keep the PCXP with the 3"-4" pad set up (you can also buy the cyclo brush attachment for the carpets) and not have to worry on having to keep changing the backing plate out...

Bought mine this week and got that deal. :)

In fact, the Lake Country backing plates seem like the ONLY way to go if you want to run 6½" OR 5" pads. With the OEM plate actually being a bit too small for 6½" and too large for 5½" pads. (Well, you CAN put a 5½" pad on it but it's right up to the edges.) Makes me thing that the OEM 4 3/8" plate might be better for 5½" pads.

But BOY oh BOY do those 5" Hybrid pads look nifty on that little bitty LC backing plate. Seems though that the whole benefit of running the 3401, and it's ability to run larger pads (and get you done faster) is thrown out the window when you move down to a 5" pad. Right? :dunno: (Albeit it'll walk less with a smaller pad.)

the oem 4 3/8" plate will work with 5.5" pads but while it does offer some safety cushion, it's too small for those pads especially if the velcro extends to the edge. i like the backing plate to fit the entire circumference of the velcro on the pad as much as possible to avoid the cookie cutter effect, and get even pressure/distribution of the backing plate/machine...

Yup.... it's that odd sizing that lead to LC making pads that are different from the rest. ;)

Which of course is why you'll also see guys saying they've 'trimmed' or 'sanded' their OEM plate down to size. But yes, it fits the 5½" pad perfectly up to the edges. (Just as long as you don't want/mind the backing plate banging into stuff should you get too close.)
