FLEX beats Rupes to the Punch with new Swirl Finder Light

Looks nice! I wonder if it is comparable in quality to other small high end units? The price is right if so.......

And running on 3 AAA's this thing will most likely eat up batteries, I'll stick with the rechargeable brinkman with the car charger for on the go.

What are the lumens on this light hate when the do not post this it really does matter. I'll stick with my Fenix TK35 820 Lumens and yes its not cheap but best light I have ever bought. I use rechargeable batteries which help with any light.

130 lumens at highest setting; not sure about low setting.

Yeah the Rupes light may work on flat surfaces better, but don't y'all forget that after you buy your Flex lights and Rupes comes out with theirs it WILL NOT MATTER! :D

The Flex just won't be cool anymore, and everyone will want a carbon fiber looking plastic Italian (Chinese) light. Oh, and being as it'll cost more it MUST be better. :buffing:

Lol! So true!

But the Flex light has a forced rotation adjustable beam which allows faster swirl acquisition! :-0

Then again the Rupes light will have more "throw"!

I hear 'dat! I've usually got my little OLight M20 Warrior on me that'll do 5, 110, & 320 lumens plus instant strobe. But you talk about a battery HOG! Whew! And those 123A's are not the cheapest batteries in the drawer, I'll tell ya' that. ;)

"swirl acquisition"

'Diggin' that one! :D

Northern Tool & Equipment, period. More lights than Carter has "Little Liver Pills". Little lights, medium lights, soft lights, bright lights, BIG lights, lights that charge, lights that use tiny batteries, lights that use 2 batteries, lights that used a LOT of batteries, lights that even use your power drill batteries, twist lights, single, double, triple, twist, flip, hang, prop, magnetic, click, see in the dark, see to the friggin' MOON you freaking name it type of lights.

But..... they do NOT have carbon fiber plastic-E lights. :dunno:

Yes I missed that but a 130 is not enough in my opinion.

Remember the original Brinkmann was a Zeon light , not a LED. Interested in how they compare. The market is full of good LED's

It works really good.

Emphasis on the word really

The guys at my class will all get to play with this new tool this weekend on some really cool cars with some really cool tool.

Totally agree... I found that 200 is the bare minimum and feel more comfortable in the 300s. I do have a 700 lumen weapon light that makes for a nice illumination but you have to be at least 15 feet away or you'll blind yourself looking at the reflection.

2-3 foot evaluation/ work my 200 lumens headlamp is good!

I love my Fenix TK15 as well! :dblthumb2:

I agree. My PD32 is perfect for darker paint at 330 lumens!
I tried my RC40 once on paint and am still seeing orange spots!

I got my flex light yesterday and opened her up today.
A few questions... This is the first light I've ever received where the batteries we're already in the flashlight?
Did I get the demo unit?
I really like the ability to adjust the "zoom" on the beam, however when playing with the light, it looks like there is finger prints on the inside of the lens? Do other flashlights have this?

Now... When it comes to spotting swirls! I figured what better to try it on then my good ole white macbook. First I tried with one of the LED flashlights that come 3 to a pack from Costco. I've used these in the past, and they do good enough for their price (I think I get them 3 for $20). Did the same with the Flex light, holy cow!!! The swirls definitely jump out more. Not sure if this is due to the light being brighter, or if it's due to the ability to adjust the beam?
Long story short, it seems to do good for me, never having the chance to own a brinkmann, I'm sure this will work great.

However, I would like to know if I was sent a used / demo unit...

Also, my "pet peeve" with this light...
Every time you zoom the beam all the way out, and then zoom it back in, it's like pushing the switch... It will change it from high power, to lower power, to strobe... (why they put a strobe on a light designed for finding swirls is beyond me...).

Its because Rupes did not "design" the light. They simply chose an existing platform and branded it! Hence the strike bezel! Drop it on your paint and see what happens! LOL! :-)

The European market loves anything with a strobe light
