I used my Flex on dads new car last night .... unfortunately the backing plate melted !!!

DOH! I just sold my PC 7424 and bought a Flex last night from AG.

Well.. at least there's a one year warranty and the backing plate replacements aren't too expensive.

Do a search on the Flex here on AGO and you'll receive some preventative measure to ensure longevity from the Flex. Since I do not own a Flex I do not know the specifics but be sure the backing plate is always tightened and also apply some oil to the felt ring behind the BP. Again, a search will yield more useful information.

i wouldn't regret the purchase one bit. while some have had problems with the backing plate, it's just a small percentage of the many who own a Flex...

Thanks for the advice but I'm not too worried. I'm actually very excited to get the Flex and start using it.
