Haven't seen those products compared before, I am eager to see what people will say :)

Here's a very thorough and detailed thread where one of our forum members stopped by Autogeek and tested out both the Flex 3401 and the Rupes 21. Both tools were "optimized" if you know what I mean.

I also took TONS of pictures including pictures of both tools buffing CURVED panels. More pictures of these tools being used by someone brand new to these tools then you'll find anywhere else.

Then you can read his take instead of my take.

I have the Flex. Don't own BF so cannot comment. Just wanna add that unless the Flex stopped working. Otherwise it doesn't need servicing or maintenance. These are the words from my Flex dealer. So far I only have replaced the backing plate. The white foam part disintegrated over time due to heat. After 3 years of usage. I detail about 60 cars a year. Part timer. Hope this information is helpful.

just thinking out loud here... the rupes has a larger throw than the flex, but the flex will make up for it since it spins several hundred more times per OPM with the forced rotation. so doesn't it make for it in the long run? anyone care to explain their thoughts on the matter?
