Flex XC 3401 VRG

There was a problem with the early made backing plates that would over heat that's were the oiling of the BP came into play.Even though i have a newer one i still removed mine and used some 3in1 oil and lightly lubed the BP better save then sorry.

+1

I add a couple drops of 3in1 oil ocassionally even though as Adam said it is not needed on the newer backing plates.

How do you tell if you have the old or new BP? (I feel like I should already know this) Either way, I've already oiled the felt ring with 3in1 multiple times and have not had any problems. I just want to know.

TIA

While it may not be required it sounds like adding a bit of lubrication to the felt pad occasionally can only help reduce friction and heat. I think when mine arrives tomorrow I add some light oil to this area as well.

Well, according to the UPS email notification my new Flex polisher was dropped off at my home. When I get there I'll pull it out of the box and tell you what I think!! :xyxthumbs:

You'll LOVE it!

And, BTW, I put a little Air Tool Oil on mine in between uses. It's better to be safe than sorry IMO.

How well, if at all, would Megs soft buff pads work with a Flex 3401? I know you can't use the smaller 4 inch pads, but I have quite a few Megs pads that I would hate to go to waste if I got a Flex.

Thanks

You can use the 3M 4" Edge pads with the adapter. I know that doesn't help with the Megs. I thought I read someone had cut a BP down to fit a 4" pad.
