We had some bad storms here on Sunday in Saint Pete. I live with my grandparents in the Shore Acres part of St.Pete and the flooding has just been outrageous. It hasn't rained here since Sunday, but the tides are so obnoxious that the water remains in the street. So bad that I was unable to come home Sunday night due to the waters. Yesterday I even had to park the car at a nearby park and walk home. My grandmother and I walked through it this morning to get to work...and again this evening... It pains me to see the dummies in my neighborhood, that I know, drive right through it with no disregard for their vehicles. This is SALTWATER BTW. I mean we have the Explorer parked at the park because I won't drive through it, even washing it off when we get home, because if I can get it home, I won't be able to get out in the morning to go to work. So oh well. Just thought I would share some pictures of the flooding. My grandparents said this hasn't happened in the 29 years that they have lived out here, so to the people who say how can you live in an area like that, I generally tell them this doesn't happen often and when it does, it normally goes down in 3-4 hours. But let me tell you, these high tides ARE NOT doing wonders on our dock. The boats, on high tide, are just about floating by themselves. But enough talking, on to the pictures!

This is the entrance to our neighborhood looking out. This is on high tide and the water is probably 2 feet down there...

It actually went about 4-5 inches higher than this.

And these were all taken yesterday when I was finally able to get home. And nothing has changed today. They said it won't go down till probably Thursday. And then we fly out to New York on Friday! What timing...

I had no idea people winched their boats out of the water like that at home.

I was just watching this on the news and man this is a lot worse than I thought, I have a close friend who lives in Myakka City Florida, hope she's OK....

See alot of that here in SoCal, especially high dollar boats in the salt water. We leave our jet skis out on ride up ramps at our river house, only when we're there. Tidal surge bangs stuff around a lot.

Hopefully no one had anything of value stored in those deck boxes, sucks losing stuff like that and no insurance will cover it.

Here's a few from North Florida. We are getting hammered. Rattlesnakes and Moccasins are freakin everywhere! Major roads ad backroads closed. It's bloody mess.

Here are my Deputies saving a girl today that was swept away by flood waters. She was swept right off her porch. She was able to grab a tree about a 1/2 mile away. Pics are crappy but I was in waist deep water.

A lot of areas of Florida just got dumped on, crazy amounts of rain.

Odd enough, we only saw a few drops here in Pensacola.

Ed, those pictures are crazy.

Right now we are up to 18 inches in 24 hours. I am surprised you didn't get more over your way Stephan.

Shore Acres floods worse than any other section of St. Pete. I saw a couple of guys on the news who were kayaking down the street.

He is not making it up. It is a town not city in Manatee county south of Bradenton. I live on a canal and I think every home here in Punta Gorda has a boat lift.

Now our damn natural gas mains are popping off! Good times in Florida!!

That is incredible. If you took that how loud was it? I've heard them pop off and it was like a jet throttling up, even 300 yds away.

Yeah there are lots of our neighbors with lifts, but they are expensive and where we are there are restrictions that go with them as to when you are able to lower the boat and what not, due to how much water the lift itself takes up. And there is no dredging of the canals in our neighborhood to help that.
