About Forida's tint laws, do they apply to out of state visitors or are we exempt. We are going to Destin in 2 weeks and was just wondering about that. My wife actually got a ticket for our windows here in GA on July 4th so now she is freeking out about it. Also just out of curiousity what is the legal limit in Florida?

Looks like FL is 28%. GA is 35% and they will issue tickets to out of state drivers is what I have been told. Doesn't really seem far since laws vary state to state. No matter what I am not legal in GA or FL I have 13%!!

honestly cops dont really care. my friend has gotten 10 warnings and no tickets about his tint. and unless you do something realllly stupid, you shouldnt get pulled over because of tint on out of state tags.

Cops usually won't bother you if you don't have your front windows tinted dark. Back windows - they don't care. If you are passing by a cop - lower your front windows. If they are going in the opposite direction they usually won't bother you unless you have they tinted too dark (20%+).

one hint ... be kind, if pulled over immediately drop all windows. Cops can clearly see occupants and less likely to harass you on tint.

Tell that to my biz partner who picked up his new Lexus and got tint put on, and got a ticket for tint.......course he was speeding so that didn't help, all the same day:D. And he hit some debris that fell off a truck and cracked the front valience, didn't have a good day.

He has like 10% on the sides and 30% on the windshield, and the tails are tinted black, the car is black, and the glass is really black lol.

10% on front windows is kinda dark. In California they will immediately pull you over for this. And as far as windshield - they don't want any tint. not even 50%. They pull over for this immediately. The main reason I didn't tint my windshield is the guy that wiw my windows warned me about electronis under dash (not my in my I30, but a lot in RL), told me he will not accept any responsibility if water makes there and damages electronics. They do cover your dash, but still I didn't want to take risk.

Believe me its dark lol, plus the car is black and the tails are now blacked out and he's getting black rims now....

i wouldnt worry about it...i drove my 240sx around with limo tint for atleast a year, got pullled over a few times, never had one issue with my tint though. be kind and roll your windows down like scott said, and just be polite and you should be fine...dont give the officer a reason to be a d!ckhead

i believe you, Surfer. Having a windshield tinted will make that 10% even darker. But that's way too dark. Too obvious for cops, easy to get pulled over.

I think it was the 75 in 45 that caught their attention:D

My wife actually got pulled over here in GA just for the tint. I have always had my windows tinted and have never even had them checked. When we called to check what the fine was I shocked when they said $140! We will probably end up getting it fixed but not before our vacation. I have the ticket and our court date isn't until the end of August so I am hoping I can show that and just say I have an appointment to get it fix and they will let us by.

On another note what are the best places to eat in Destin/Panama City?? My wife goes for the beach and I go for the food!!!!!

Captain Andersons, Saltwater Grill, and Angelo's Steak Pit :righton:

Im sure the 75 in the 45 it what got him pulled over. In Fl you can get pulled over for just tint. Generally if you are doing everything right you wont get pulled over. Keep in mind if you piss the guy or now days gals off they can write you a ticket for each window that has tint on it. BTW the prices of some tickets just went up a few dollars. Make their job easier and they may make your life easier. In Ga you have to see a hearing officer for a window tint ticket or are you fighting the ticket? 140.00 ouch.

I am currently trying to find out what happens if I just pay the fine and keep riding with the tint I currently have. I really hate to have to go any lighter than I am now.
So Capt Andersons and Angelos I have been to. Where is the saltwater grill? Any other suggestions???
