Ya know, I still like the standard cheapo usually yellow foam pads to apply most sealers and waxes. I can hardly ever find them anymore though, and for some reason whenever I order on here, I never ever remember them:mad: Awhile back I did find soem Megs ones at a store, bought them out and they haven;t had them in since.
About how many washes do you guys get out of them? I think most of mine are on 3-5 wwash, a few getting bad. Also, do you ever really use the whole pad? I usually end up only using on 1/4-1/2 of it. Wonder if they make smaller ones? Wonder if I cut one in half, would it shred and leaves shrapnel all over?
I wonder if...
Kinda slow on here tonight, so thought I'd write the above.

I got some at Wallyworld last night......Meguiars brand. Also check Big Lots if you've got one.

I actually save my applicator pads. Each one gets it's own separate ziplock bag with the product used on it. I just keep applying with the same pad over and over w/o washing it.

Works fine even by my standards :D

Does anyone know if there any "great" applicator for applying tire gels? They all seem to tear up pretty easily after a few times. What do you use? Thanks!

Eagle One tire swipes are the ones i use. I have only had 1-2 of them that come unglued, i even wash then in a bucket with APC then let'em air dry.

As for the megs gold applicators i have a dozen or so. i wash them in washer then toss'em in the dryer. Ive had some close to 8 months and not one has fallen apart, try and get the blue viking applicator pads if you can these might work better for you. I know you can't help being and animal when it comes to applying products :p . To many products and not enough time and cars to test them all out on. I feel your pain

I know most would say the Eagle One Tire Swipes, but I talked to some people who prefer to use sponges. The cheapo ones you can pick up ar a store in bulk. Said the applied gels more thinly and evenly. Others have said they used paint brushes instead.

For applying my waxes/sealents I just use my yellow Pinnacle foam pads. Even after multiple uses they don't even look worn. You guys are having your pads deteriorate/fall apart?

I bought a 12-pack of the yellow foam applicators a while ago (sping maybe?) from AG. I forget how much I paid for them but they were pretty cheap. I don't think I've even used half of them yet. I've used a handful but keep throwing them in the wash. They come out clean and ready to use some more so I just keep using the same ones over and over. I do have one or two that have some tears in them, but for the most part they seem to hold up quite well.

I like Neothin's way, unless the pads get dirty.

Do these car care products clog your plumbing or leave residue when washed in the washer?

So far I've seen no indications of any problems caused by putting used foam pads in the washer.

I tend to use the German applicator pads alot for products by hand then use the XMT pad wash to clean them, no problems what so ever:)

I ordered the DP glass restorer and that german pad is the bonus that comes with it, do i use the scrubbing part or foam part for that product???

Thanks guys.
Well, seperating them by products sound slike a great idea, if i can keep them clean enough, seems like I am always hitting some trim accidentally though ans getting balck marrs on them.
Yes, I wash them in the washer, do fine.
I hate the EO tire swipes, argh, soak up way too much product and uneven. those I do keep in baggies. A little trick I learned somewhere (?) is to get those cheap 80 cent foam varnish brushes to use with tire gel, those who have tried said it works about the best, now that I write this I remember I gotta try them!
It just seems in my area, used to see tons fo the foam yellow apps, not never, only cheaper mf pads, I do use those as well, but they take a while to kinda break in with the product, meaning they need to soak in some product before working evenly for me.
Also, while were here, do not get the Black Magic foam apps! I bought a 3 pack somewhere, the have a stiff soft plastic backing and are contoured to your hand, thought they looked awesome! So they are horrible to use though! Might be good for tire swipe, but for their intended purpose, no way, First of all, the stifness prevents them from easily getting into a jar/can to get the product, The foam is obviosuly something else, cuas ethe don;t glide nice, they kinda catch, etc. Waste of money. The back came off in one wahsing.

Yup for gels either use cheapo sponges or the cheap fine hair paint brushes. The sponges espeically work well, they absorb some product and hold onto it allowing better distribution of the gels. You want gels to be applied thinly and uniformly, otherwise they can be a mess. On my suv I have real A/T tires and if I buy some gel I will use sponges or brushes b/c with teh white raised letters and design of the tires I can't just go over and apply a thin coat, I have to work it into areas.
