Foam Blaster?

I have been doing some researching on different detailing products and seen people using these foam blasters. I have never really seen them but see they just get your vehicle really soapy. Could someone explain in more detail what the point is of these foam blasters and the steps you would use for washing your vehicle when you have one. What are some of the good brand name foam blasters or are they not worth having?

I use one with my pressure washer for pre soaking the car. I put Dawn soap in it for degreasing and to help breakdown the old wax. I'm sure it's better then just rinsing the car with water, but for me the real value is the curb appeal. When I'm doing a mobile job I can watch people slow down and watch when I'm blasting the car, it makes a great visual. Once I have the neighbors watching they will usually come by and ask for a business card.

Could someone explain in more detail what the point is of these foam blasters

The idea is to lift and suspend the dirt in the foam so it can be removed without scratching the paint.

and the steps you would use for washing your vehicle when you have one.

There are foam guns which attach to an ordinary garden hose, and foam cannons that attach to a pressure washer. A foam cannon produces thicker foam. I use a cannon. I load the cannon's buttle with soap and warm water. If the car is really dirty, I use the pressure washer alone and rinse off the heaviest dirt. If not, I go straight to laying down a layer of foam. I let it dwell for a few minutes, and then rinse. Then I foam a second time, and do a two bucket wash to wipe away the film that cannot be removed by foaming alone. Then I rinse and dry , or foam a third time to use the foam as lubrication for clay.

What are some of the good brand name foam blasters or are they not worth having?

It seems like all foam cannons are identical in construction, or really, really similar. I just bought the cheapest one I could find.

Some people have tried cannons and quit using them, finding them too much trouble to use, and not anymore effective than a regular wash.
