Foam Cannon HP Not Working Well

After 5+ years my foam cannon has decided it doesn't want to work well any more. It sprays barely soapy water regardless of where the adjustment knob is turned. If I squeeze the bottle while its spraying, it will spray normally until I stop squeezing. It used to only act up until I played with the adjustment knob for a while but the. It started working normally but the last time I used it, I couldn't get it to work normally unless I squeezed the bottle. Is this the strainer or do I possibly have an issue with my pressure washer? I had to replace the pump on my pressure washer around the time it first started to act up but I used the exact same pump and I don't really seem to be having issues with the pressure washer otherwise.

Sounds like it's time to take it apart and thoroughly clean it as well as put in a new strainer.

Ok, that's fine. I just wanted to make sure being able to squeeze the bottle and it work or the intermittent operation I had for a little bit was the strainer before I bought some. Although, it probably needs it replaced anyway since I've had this thing at least 5 years. I partially disassembled it last weekend thinking maybe an o-ring for the adjustment valve was torn but everything looked ok there. I haven't taken the nozzle off. Thanks for the help, I almost bought a whole new unit last time I had a good sale coupon so I'm glad I waited.

So I replaced the strainer and it has been working perfectly for a few months now and then two weeks ago it just stopped working all of the sudden again. This time though, squeezing the bottle wouldn't make it work. I took it apart and replaced the strainer again just to see and I tried to use it yesterday and it still doesn't work. Is there anything else that can go wrong with these things? It is possible that its the trigger/handle somehow? Its just an on/off valve so I don't see that being an issue and water will spray through it what appears to be normally even though it won't pull the soap through.
