foam cannon

Thought I would share a pic from yesterday. I use Duragloss 902 (2oz.) with an Excell machine (4gpm, 3500psi) I have tried Mr. Pink as well but wasn't satisfied.


 
Interesting comparisons being discussed. Quite honestly, I am not certain how everything goes with regards to the flow rate versus pressure. To some extent, the two figures should be related. Having a read around, it looks like the technology is generally designed for given flow rates with maximum rated pressure (i.e. that it is the flow rate which is more crucial). However, the fact that different lances can be rated for operation at different flow rates indicates that increasing the flow rate, beyond a certain point, can degrade your foam.

I have never asked the question and given that many lances are sourced from abroad, the answer may not be available... but what are these lances actually designed to operate at? Can we even get the specs on the venturi size (taking one apart to measure it would be somewhat damning!)?

It's very possible your pressure washer pushes so many GPM that you NEED a stronger concentration of soap, as its getting watered down too quickly through the foam cannon.

I agree, it looks good but my foam is 3times as thick and sits on the car. U have a better pressure washer than I do as well. Something to think about when purchasing soap.
 
What soap should you get. DP extreme foam , no doubt about it. I haram tee you'll be happy with this product !!!!

Well, the new MTM Hydro low pressure model came today. Here's some pics to show the new vs. old.

New as it comes in box, note the paperwork states it's lower pressure, and it comes with a Karcher bayonet fitting already attached:

Here's a close up of the head unit, it has a tag stating the lower pressure requirements as well. My original had no such collar tag:

The next pic shows my original MTM Hydro cannon with the new one's different shaped bottle. The new bottle is more square at the top, the bottle feels a bit thinner in material strength, and the threads aren't a dead nuts match to the gun like the old bottle. Not sure what all that's about??? Note my old cannon has a bunch of fittings that I researched here to make sure it would work with my Karcher X series K5.740 Pressure Washer:

Next up is a pic of the inner orifice of the two head units side by side. I had initially thought that perhaps this orifice would be smaller, and that would be the difference between the 2 when dealing with a smaller PSI and GPM pressure washer. Given the pic, it's too close to call. The one on the left seems a shade bigger, but then, it's also a shade closer to the camera. I did the best I could holding them, they wouldn't hold still in my hand dead even, and I had to angle them just right to get both in the pic. Zoom in really close to compare:

Last is a comparison of the attachments to go to my Karcher PW. Pressure Washers Direct claims on the webpage devoted to the cold water electric MTM gun (under the features tab, a bullet point, unknown if I'm allowed to post the direct link) that the black bayonet fitting that is pre-attached works with the X Series PW, but on Autogeek, I found some threads specifically about the X Series PW that claimed I needed the yellow fitting to make it work:

I now I have all the correct fittings in my "collection" here, so we'll see what happens when I try to attach it.

Unfortunately Mother Nature isn't going to cooperate any time soon for me to try this out vs. the original MTM. We're hovering around freezing until the weekend, when rain is forecast for Friday and Saturday. Might not be until Sunday, if I can get the time.
 
Great. I notice the instructions mentions "skilled MTM workers" several times.
 
Yes, I didn't know exactly what to make of that, save maybe there's a strong union presence in Italy.
 
Maybe they are just trying to say if you take it apart you may need to pay attention since you possible have flying parts if improperly reassembled.

It will just be a disclaimer - if you take it apart and it doesn't work after, it is your problem because you are not a "skilled MTM worker".

Here's one I did earlier in the week. Honeydew @ 4:1.

This had dwelled for long enough for me to do the entire car and wrap around. Then come back and find my phone, take off my wet gloves and take shots starting from the front.

Extra points for reading that tag.
