Hey guys ... The one thing that I do not have is a foam gun. The more and more I read about them ... The more and more I want one. I am thinking about buying one ... So ...

Should I get the quart? ... Or is the extra $10 worth it to get the half gallon?

I also would plan on getting a gallon on DP Xtream Foam.

Also ... After I "foam" down ... I still would want to use the traditional two bucket method to wash, and just use the "foam" as a really good "pre-cleaner" so to say.

I have Pinnacle Body Work Shampoo ... So would I just "foam" down with dp, then go on to wash like I normally do?

Should I rinse after the foam ... or what?

Any and all comments are welcome, since this foaming is new to me

I think a half gallon gun would be overkill, but it may depend on the size of the car. Since you're only doing a pre-soak and then using the 2 bucket method, the quart size should suffice. From my experience, even pre-soaking and then using the foam gun in one hand, spraying the car with the Ulti-Mit following, the quart size is enough.

However, my quart foam gun doesn't like to stand up by itself, but that's probably because I've been only been putting an ounce or two of soap in it, heh.

I also had the same question about size? I know that SIZE DOES MATTER (Some say no but I hear them talking in private!) But when it comes to foam guns is the quart size big enough for a single car? To me the half gallon seems kinda big!?!? I am going to purchase a foam gun but i dont wanna get into the bigger is better mentality? And advice?
Thanks!

From what I've heard, and I'm not sure if this applies to the quart or half-gallone size...you fill the container at least 1/2 or 3/4 full with hot water, add 2oz. of DP Xtreme Foam, shake that puppy up, set the bar to the highest setting, then go to town with the foam.

It's so much fun...when i first used my foam gun, incorrectly I might add, I wanted to shoot everything up and down my street with foam, LOL. My incorrect procedure was to put about 2-4oz of Poorboy's SS&S in the bottle, set the bar to the 2nd or 3rd hole (3rd might already be the middle setting) and spray away. Needless to say, my 32oz. of PBSSS didn't last that long, heh.

Half-gallon seems too big for a weekend warrior doing a single car. Hopefully others will contribute their thoughts as well.

If you already have a pressure washer, I'd look into getting a foam cannon for the lance (or whatever it's called). If I had one, I'd be shooting all the neighborhood squirrels and the backyard neighbor's incessantly barking dog.

With the bar at the highest setting ... Wont that take it all out VERY fast?

I added a Dramm 300 shutoff to mine and its perfect. Never need to add more than 1/2 setting for soap. Some of the best are Duragloss, Zaino, Poorboys, and DP for a nice foamy presoak.

So how much soap to water in the canister itself does everyone recommend?
Also ... what setting should I run the needle at?

Dramm 300 is on my list...damn j00 killr, you must be stealing my thoughts, lol.

I fill quart canister up with water first, then add around 1-2 ounces of soap at best. Swish around and leave at middle setting.

Thanks for the tips guys! ... I just ordered the quart size gun, along with a gallon on DP Xtream Foam. I also threw in a new grit guard, a gallon of Megs Wheel Brightner (never used that before) and the DP Extream Brake Dust Kit (Seemed like a good buy!)

With regard to the DP wheel glaze, make sure you put it on thin. Too thick and it can be a little difficult to remove. Also, do not eat the DP wheel glaze, no matter how much you like the smell :D

LOL ... Thanks for the tips man ... I appriciate it!! .. I have chrome wheels .. so I am hoping after I polish them ... the wheel glaze will help "seal" that it a little better.

Also ... The Megs Wheel Brightener ... whats the best mix?

NP...wait for killr to chime in on the wheels...if anyone would know it's him.

Does everyone that uses the foam gun also use 2 buckets? Remember seeing a video where the guy was running the foam gun while cleaning with his mitt. Thought just a rinse bucket would be needed in that instance.

I do not use the 2 bucket method when using the foam gun; just the 1 bucket + grit guard rinse bucket.

The more I think about it ... that is what Im going to do, just one rinse bucket with the grit guard.

So can anyone help me with the Meg's Wheel Brightener ratios on different types of wheels?

ie: chrome, aluminum, etc

I have a basic foam gun that came with my power washer . I find that the side that's in the sun dries on the paint abit , how bad is this for the paint ??

I use my foam gun as follows. I fill the canister up about 2/3 with water and then fill the remaining 1/3 with soap. I have an older one and the small canister. I use the second hole of 5 and get plenty of foam. I get almost 3 vehicle washes with that amount before having to refill. I'm using both DG902 and Meg's Hyper Wash.

I use 1 fresh water rinse bucket with grit guard for the mitt after each section.
