so i have decided that a foam gun is next on the list of things i need. it seems like it would really come in handy, but i have a few questions.

1. which foam gun is best for me?? there are a few different ones on the autogeek site and i have no clue which one would be best.

2. would optimum car wash soap be okay to use with the foam gun? i have a gallon jug of it already.

3. would i be stripping off a lot of wax by using it?

4. sometimes i just dont drive my car for extended periods of time and it just sits in the garage because im usually on campus, and well there will be a layer of dust on my car. would the foam gun wash be enough to clean it? or would hand washing afterwards still be neccessary?

thanks in advance!

1. Autogeek only sells one type, they are just labled wolfgang, pinnacle, and DP because you can choose the logo you want. The only real option is quart or half gallon, and I think most people have the quart size, I could be wrong though.

2. Im sure optimum wash will work great in the foam gun. Some other soaps that are reportedly good in the gun are DP extreme Foam, DG901, Poorboys SS&S and im sure there are others.

3. As long as you dont over soak (let the suds dry on car), or under-dilute the mixture (too much soap) you LSP should be fine.

4. Im willing to bet a foam soak, good rinse, and dry should take care of all that.

I use a cheapo garden sprayer myself, it doesnt foam nearly as well as the foam gun, but you get the idea of it. Its a nice way to wash and be able to eliminate one bucket, I always use a rinse bucket as well for my mitt.

Foam guns are a topic covered ALOT here yould be able to find more info about the gun and soaps and dilution ratios pretty easily around here.

Hope this helps.

ah thank you very much :). i just dont know what size gun would be best for me.

1. The smaller foam gun is perfect. I fill it with about 1cm of DP XFoam and the rest with water.

2. Your soap will work fine, I found DP XFoam to foam the best, however.

3. The LSP sensitivity doesn't really have to do with the gun, but rather the pH of the soap you are using.

4. I would say that the layer of dust will come right off with a foam-soak. Consider a QD like CM for this though... it will probably be easier and less timely.

I believe all the guns are the same except for the logo (Autogeek, Pinnacle, Wolfgang). It is seriously a must have item and will work perfectly with your soap of choice. The benefit is the stage of presoaking which helps to remove some contaminents youd otherwise be grinding around your paint while washing.
