Foam Gun ?

My new foam gun was waiting for me when i got home tonight so can't wait now to try it out over the weekend:)

Will leave it on factory settings 1st then have a play afterwards

nope. water has to be flowing through the hose. The foam gun isn't powered and doesn't pull water. Water has to be pushed through it.

unfortunately for most apartment dwellers, foam guns can't be used because they don't have a water tap.

which reminds me... I lose my foam gun in a month when I move

*crys histerically and goes and hides in a corner still sobbing*

Hi Neothin,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, it is a shame that apartment dwellers cant use the foam gun because they do not have a water tap. :(

Someone said they use simple green diluted 30:1 in the foam gun.

Is this safe?

Is this the only wash you use or do you use something else in the bucket?

So, it doesn;t just run out like a hose with no nozzle then, and it is controllable my the trigger, right?

Scooter, you need a shut off valve to control the flow of water right before the foam gun. All you need to do is use the quick connect to disconnect the foam gun and you will have rinse water at your fingertips with the on/off valve. Install this right before the foam gun and you will run to the spigot no more;)

I've used all sorts of things in my gun. Car wash soap, bug squash, meg's APC, PB's APC, liquid lawn fertilizer, bleach, etc etc etc. Anything that's liquid can go in the gun (unless it's a very heavy syrup, then the gun has problems pulling it through the tube).

On dirty cars i'll rinse the car with an all purpose cleaner solution in the gun. This helps break up some of the dirt/bugs/tar etc etc on the car. It's perfectly safe. I have 2 different canisters for my gun. 1 i use for soap, the other is for a cleaning solution.

That shutoff is made by Gilmour. I'm not sure if that's their high flow quick shutoff. I found this one at a local store. It's made by Gilmour as well. It is great!

It has a high flow opening and a very large easy to turn knob.

I also have a quick connect on it.

Make sure you get one that doesn't have a flow cutoff built in. The one offer here by Gilour doesn't have one. The flow cutoff prevents water from flowing out the quick connect if there isn't a nozzle connected. The problem is that it doesn't allow you to just use your hose to sheet water and also reduces water pressure.

The large holes are only good if you have enough water flow from the spicket.if you don't have enough flow/pressure at the other end of the hose you will experience low pressure at the nozzle.

I'm not sure if its the fireman hose nozzle or the dramm shutoff that reqiures an X amount of water pressure for the nozzle to produce a nice flow of pressue..( i think its the fireman hose nozzle)

Hey Neo, dont they make a hose that can attach to a bathroom sink or kitchen sink. Heck, Id buy one of those and drop it out the window. College is a very good thing, but a dirty car, well thats just uncivilized.

One other hint, most restaraunts (and other commerical buildings) have a spigot in the back, they just take the knob off so no-one can use it. A little stop at Lowes and you got a knob and a reel hose .... get up early, and nobody will know the difference.

Ok, go tmy gun and player with it. To do sheeting water, all I will need is a quick disconnect? IF so, when its off does the water pour out, or will I need the shut off valve to turn water off, then quick disconnect, turn water back on and away? I have a shut off valve already, but no quick disconnect.

Scooter, you will need a quick connect unless you want to unscrew your nozzle/foam gun when you want the water to come out of the hose slowly to sheet rinse. You can use the quick connect on the foam gun to disconnect the soap container, but you will have higher pressure water to spray from your nozzle. To sheet you will need to disconnect, or unscrew, the nozzle from the end of the hose(hence the necessity for the quick connect making it easier to disconnect/unscrew). Make sure you've got the high flow shut off valve too, otherwise the water kinda shoots out of the hose! Hope this helps....:righton:

Hi I am a newbie here and am interested to find out more about the foam gun.

As far as I understand one end of the hose will be connected to a foam gun and the other end connected to a running tap. I am wondering if it is possible that I just dip the other end into a bucket full of water? It is because there isn't any running tap available at where I stay.
Ya know, I was thinking if something like this would work as a no-tap, electrical foamgun?

Wagner Power Painter - it takes paint and mixes it with air to "atomize" it before spraying. There is a "siphon" tube you can attach instead of the cup. The tube would normally go directly into a paint can...whose to say it can't go into a 5 gallon bucket of water and soap mix?

BTW, I personally would go with one of those rinseless washes like DP, QEW, or Optimum No Rinse. The above is just purely fun speculation for the power tool wh*re in me.

Not the same, but I did try my pressure washer with soap, it worked, but was not controallable and wasted through lots of soap.

Yeah, I would imagine that a pressure washer would never really allow the soap to sit and loosen up the dirt for you. The ones at the self service seem to push the soap around on your car.

No, it covered it really well, very similar to the actual foam gun, just there was so much water coming out/through the soap bottle, it wasted it. I tried setting the pressure at the lowest it would go and it still sucked right through it. Eitherway, the foam gun is lots easier in different aspects, I have no regrets and wish I hadn't held out so long on buying one.

Whats the difference between the Autogeek, Pinnacle, and Wolfgang foam guns? Also, what kind of shampoo is everyone using with it?
