Foam Gun

... Just to be clear, I'm guessing you are talking about the MTM Hydro or Mecline Foam Lance. They are not the same as the one AG sells. If you look at them closely, you will SE they look similar, but just aren't the same. I'm not saying one is better than the other. Just that they are not the same. Even if they did look the same, the internals are what matter, and there is no way other than to dissect them both to compare those.

Yeah they are not the same, the MTM doesn't have the wax company sticker.:props:

As you can see:
1. Bottle is different shape, AG neck is straighter /angular, MTM bottle neck is rounded.

2. Adjustment knob on top is obviously different.

3. Flange that screws on bottle is knurled on AG one, smooth metal on MTM.

4. The "beak" on the AG one has a collar, MTM does not.

etc... So, they look similar at first glance, but are not the same, only if even going by external appearances. I think it would be pretty lame for AG to almost triple the price for a sticker. What I'd like to see is both of them tested against each other to see the performance difference if any.

Thanks for the comparison. I wonder if there is any difference. I've seen a new one, recently, that claims to be even better than the MTM Hydro Lance-same price as AG's foam cannon. I'm getting ready to order some of the XMT Spray Wax on BOGO. If Nick wants me to test out the cannon against the MTM Hydro Lance, I'd be more than happy to do so. I'm sure with all the talk about the MTM they're losing money on their foam cannons.

I bought my foam gun off seajays when he got his foam cannon. I love it. It's the same one bobby has.

Looking forward to see what mods you did to your foam gun.

Foam Guns

If you look at the Wolfgang Foam Gun you'll notice that it comes with a red squeeze nozzle. This is pretty typical of what you'd find in your local garden section and it includes a quick disconnect for flexibility.

Initially, I was a bit disappointed with foam gun but not anything to do with the unit itself but rather the water pressure I was using. I have well water my water pressure ranges between 35psi and 55psi which works however not to my satisfaction.

I stripped the foam gun down to it's bare essentials and felt that some of the issue stems from flow restrictions within the red nozzle. I removed it and mounted a simple ball valve which allows me full pressure without restriction and the improvement was significant.

Actual cost of said modification - $4.00
Improvement in overall performance - Priceless....:props:

Thanks for the photos BobbyG.

Thats an interesting modification and it makes sense. I'm sure the water pressure is greater.

I have a foam cannon - I love the thing! I use it as a pre-soak and then I hand wash. I do not use it everytime, but I do enjoy it - used it today!

Leave it to an engineer to improve an already great product. Thanks for sharing this Bobby. I am fortunate to have a little more water pressure (that I pay dearly for I might add) or I would be trying to talk you into
modifying my gun.

So with the slight differences in bottle shape, knob size, collar etc. At the end of the day it comes down to performance. In this case $80 worth of performance difference. I have heard that, and if I'm not mistaken you can switch from foam to straight water with the AG one. I believe If I'm not mistake a forum member pointed out the difference in another foam cannon debate. Even if that's true , still wouldn't get me to on board with that. I would prefer to spend $6 on quick disconnects at lowes and swap back and forth between my lance and foam cannon. I personally don't see how the AG foam cannon could give a better spray pattern than an mtm.

I have also seen the foam lances sold from amazon and other sister stores. I am interested for product updates from those who have bought one of those.

They work great and I know you like to use dawn soap. Foams up really well with them.

I'm not sure which one is "better". I'm just saying they are not the same. As in, AGs foam cannon is just a MTM Hydro Foam cannon (or another that's similarly priced) with a "wax sticker slapped on it" as you mentioned before. Honestly, I feel that the AG Foam cannon is too expensive for me, in fact, Im waiting for my MTM Hydro from Amazon to arrive (it's in transit). I was just trying to make the point that AGs prices are MOSTLY in line with other retailers if it's the identical product - not that one foamer is better than the other. Until someone has both and does a review, who knows?
