Hey guys, I ordered a 6" Griots Random Orbital polisher a few weeks ago. I was waiting on a free shipping sale here at Autogeek to get my pads and compunds. Well, today is the day so I was looking for suggestions on pads for a "DA newbie". I was leaning toward Lake Country Hydro-Tech pads after reading some forum posts. Right now I only plan on it using it on paint that is in good condition so I shouldn't need a lot of cut. Also, after reading the forums it seems I should go with a 5" backing plate. Any advice is appreciated!

Hydrotechs work great in the 5.5" size. I'd recommend 2 sets. You can also go the microfiber pad route if you choose to, little different to care for but either work great.

I did just what your asking. I got two of the lake country hydro packs with the cyan, tangerine and crimson pads.

What do you guys think about the XMT series of swirl removers? I was thinking of trying their 3 pack and getting XMT Swirl Removers 1 & 2, and XMT 360 and add in some Hydro-Tech Pads

I'm using #3 for the first time on a very neglected black escalade and I'm very impressed.

I'm using it on 5.5 orange and yellow pads with my PC and its very nice. Just work it long enough so the abrasives fully break down and you shouldn't have to follow it with any other Polish. I'm following it with WG Paintwork Polish Enhancer and honestly see zero need to do so.
