Foggy/Milky Coating-PLEASE HELP!!-

I'll make this quick. I've got a 2014 Mustang 5.0 in Sterling Grey Metallic. I had it OptiGuarded 11 days ago. I've washed it a couple of times since then, and have used Meguiar's UQD on the entire car to remove some water before it dried. I washed my car tonight with Meguiars Gold Class wash, my AutoGeek Foam gun, and some DP Car Shampoo, and noticed the whole car seemed milky. If I ran a finger through it, it would make a line, and then come back. I washed the car again, this time Gold Class wash only. It's it's still there. I thought it was the UQD, so since my OptiGuard was 10 days hard and can't be removed without a polish, I used some dawn to wash the car. The fog is still there. Guys and gals what can I do? This is killing me, and serioulsy driving me insane. Please help me.

Here is a pic so you can you see what I'm dealing with. This is my roof.
 
So when the car is dry, it has this milky appearance, but you are able to rub it with your finger like when you made the x in the picture, but it goes back to being milky? How long does that take?

30 seconds or so I would say.

GC leaves film for me, but not usually such a uniform film. We're not talking about condensation because you are working at dusk?
 
Normally I would suggest some sort of AIO on a spot just to see if that cleans it off, but in this case I would show it to your Opti-Guard installer.

I mentioned to him that it was there. He said that sometimes condensation forms. This can't be the case here.

David, I would agree. I washed my car two days ago, the air was so humid and it was cooling off a bit. My car is white and I noticed it when I pulled it back in garage. I just finished and wiped the whole car down. Just left it a while and it went away.

Because you're creating a humid environment around the car, and due to the temperature conditions the air can no longer hold the moisture, so it condenses and deposits on your car?

I mean, as soon as I get out of the shower, the darn mirror is fogged up.

How long did it take for yours to leave Bill? I've been done for 1.5 hours.
 

Did you wait the recommended 7 days before washing?

Washing before the suggested cure time can compromise the coating and create issues.



I would have for detailer look at this and verify that everything is ok with your coating.


If this has only happen this one time, I would agree that it could be simple condensation.

 
If your car is parked in a garage get a dehumidifier. I have one in my garage and empty everyday with a full bucket of water.
 
You did say that you washed your car "tonight". When the temperature drops at the end of the day, typically it causes saturation of the air (where the air cannot hold the percentage of moisture that it could at a higher temperature), and this moisture condenses out of the air onto surfaces like your car. If your car continues to sit outside, and the temperature continues to fall, the air may repeatedly reach dew point and continue to release moisture onto your car, so that even if you wipe it dry, it will continue to become "wet".

Surely you have taken a hot shower and come out and wiped the bathroom mirror with a towel, only to have it fog up again?

I was told my my installer that I could wash OG within 3 to 4 days with no issues. I waited 72 hours and wash my car off.

Sure, but I wouldn't expect it at 70 degress outside you know? Plus the fact that it's not even.
