Folex on alcantera?

So...sounds like using a washing machine dilution of Microfiber Detergent would be acceptable

Good info. Thanks for confirming my suggestion that MF Detergent should be effective for cleaning Alcantara

Thanks Bob

Now it appears that you want to act a little giddy:
Sad.

Anyway:
Go ahead...Remove the Alcantara upholstery
from the vehicles' cabin areas that you own;
or that of the owners of vehicles that has been
entrusted to you...and throw it in a washing
machine...all you want.

I, for one, would never try to pull such
a foolish stunt myself. :smh:

How in the world have you not been kicked out of Pleasantville, OH?

You seem very UNpleasant

Did you not read what you posted/cut & pasted, yourself?

"-If the upholstery is not removable it is possible to clean Alcantara, by using specific instructions listed in Washing instructions section. "

Update: I finally got around to detailing this car today...

2006 Dodge Charger SRT

Here's the condition of the alcantera seat inserts. The drivers seat was the worst, but this was my test spot, so my pictures happened in the backseat.

After: Folex, full strength

50/50 Bottom seat almost done/Top seat still dirty:

The dirt just kept coming off, and off, and off...

I was only able to get 2 seats cleaned so far before it became late and I called it a day.. And there's still traces of dirt coming off the alcantera before I declare them fully done & clean.. But they're getting there.

I had searched the web all over trying to find out whether this method would safely work and didn't really find a definitive answer. And never found any before/after pics.

I hope this helps anyone out there who had the same question I did going in. It works, like a champ.

Nice Work Rick!

Thanks bud😉
By the way, you're the reason I tried Folex in the 1st place.. I used to read alot of posts where you would mention it, so I decided to give it a try.. Stuffs never let me down.👍🏽

Was the Folex used at full strength? Also if you could explain your method when you cleaned the material? Just want to make sure as it seemed you tried various methods.

I have only done this twice, but I used my Torador Black with distilled water. I did this on a 1 year old AMG steering wheel and it just ran with nasty stuff. It shocked me how much body oil and salt that where embedded the material.

It took 10 minutes and the client loved the results.

I would purchase a dedicated Alcantara cleaner to keep on hand for these types of jobs. If you choose to use Folex, mist the microfiber towel and gently wipe the material. Follow with a distilled water dampened microfiber towel to rinse the fibers. Folex is high pH and distilled water is typically lower than neutral.

I don't doubt that it is, but I don't recall ever seeing the ph of Folex officially stated

Thought distilled water was a 7 on the scale

After: Folex, full strength

Yes, Folex full strength. And no, I didn't try numerous methods. This was the 1st time I've had to clean this alcantera interior.

Sprayed the fabric, then using nitrile gloves gently rubbed the seats, and mopped up with quality terry towels.

Why? I just demonstrated that Folex used full strength works just fine. Sprayed directly onto fabric to the point just under saturating it.. Rubbed in per directions, and wiped up with terry towels.

The PH of distilled water is neutral, 7. Also, Folex doesn't require rinsing. Maybe you should become familiar with a product before recommending advice on how to use it...

Give them a call. I spoke to their chemist and he said that it is high pH but would not give an exact number. Tap water is typically close to neutral but distilled from my research is not.

I err on the side of caution and still rinse, especially since their chemist said it is high pH. True their label says no rinsing required which is suitable in most situations. Just a personal choice to rinse, doesn't mean you have to get upset at the recommendation. Given that I have used the product over 6 years, I am not brand new to it nor am I their chemist. I am comfortable with using it and making recommendations, that doesn't mean you have to agree.

Please do some research and check the pH level of your distilled water. If you find one that holds at 7 consistently after shipment, please share your findings.

My bad it's been a long day and I didn't mean to come off as being upset... And yea distilled water is supposed to have a PH of 7. What the PH is after shipment and sitting on a shelf is debatable.. I've never cared to look that far.

No worries at all. I used Folex on the seats of a Charger a few years ago and it worked great. Our methods were different but we achieved the same results, clean seats and a happy customer. :)

I honestly didn't think much of the pH level of distilled water until I was working with my chemist a few years ago. We were discussing diluting a concentrate of a product to make a ready to use cleaner. I asked about using distilled water and he recommended filtered water. After that discussion I started researching distilled water and pretty much figured it out from there.

Cool.👍🏽

I'd really like to hear more about why he recommended regular filtered water over distilled to use for the dilution of the cleaner... I've wondered about this subject myself as I use distilled water to mix all of my concentrates, but sometimes I wonder if using regular water might make them more effective at cleaning?
