Hey Geekaroonies, been MIA lately here and there. Haven't been around much lately and have only checked in from time to time.

Anyhow, some of you may know I was prior military and worked in the body shop. With that brought a lot of moving around as some of you may know. I retired early 2017 and came home from Germany. With that I was able to eventually buy a house and start to build and root in. Although not much I was able to turn my tiny plain two car garage into a place I could escape and detail on the weekends. I worked at a commercial truck dealership downtown St. Louis MO and put in a lot of hours.

I was doing alright but growing tired of the hours being put in. After all, I did retire from the military and was losing interest in the amount of time being separated from my family. One night in the middle of March I got a job offer while sleeping. I woke up the next morning to find out a bodyman/painter was needed at the AFB in Minot ND. Being that I worked in the bodyshop alongside the civilians as military, I knew exactly what this job is as I have done it before. No new job training needed. I took the offer straight away. Packed up my luggage and made the long trip up to Minot.

As of now, I am living out of my suitcase and dont have anything other than just the basics. Next month I will go back and get the family to get them up where with me. I am living in an apt for now and will build a house next year that will allow me to get back to normal. For the time being I will just have to make this work.

However I will be back in the bodyshop and will use the experience to help others as I can. This allows me to get a good handle on everything below the clear coat and share. As detailers we work with the clear on up.

With that said, give me some time and be patient.

BTW, anyone either Civilian, Military, or retired here in Minot or have passed through?

Awesome update, Mike. Rooting for you!

Best of luck in all endeavors, my man. :)

My uncle used to pilot B-52’s and was stationed there, I hope you like long, cold, nasty winters! Good luck to you on your path

Welcome to the frozen wastelands. I'm 4 hours east of you in Grand Forks. Enjoy the harsh winters. :D

Yep those big planes are still here. Guess I got what I always asked for. Always said I would rather be cold then hot.

Hey Mike, thanks for the welcome. Never been this far north in the US although lived in Germany for 7 years. Thats what I hear about the winters. lol

Maybe one day we will meet up.

Good luck moving into the future Mike - I'm confident you'll do great!

Hi Mike! Thank you.

:xyxthumbs:

Dang I was stationed up there from 06-13 as a B-52 Crew Chief ...good luck up there!! Those winters are long and brutal, but the community is amazing.

You can only get so naked in the summer, but winter time just add another layer.

Oh right on. I was in Nellis during that time. Complete opposite weather from you! Thank you so much.

I hear the same of the weather and the community. Everywhere people are genuinely nice for the most part.

Yep, just add more layers.
