Notice: This is not meant to offend anybody, I just thought this was pretty humorous! =D

For all those manual drivers out there, this is pretty funny. I drive a manual most of the time and I enjoyed it.

Hope you enjoy it! And for all the automatic drivers out there, feel free to post anything against manuals if you want. We're all fair here, and I'm up for a little laugh either way!

This is good. lol

Let me put my input before this starts to be a 200 page thread..

Manuals are awesome indeed and there will also be some, however, if you look at modern cars such as the Nissan GTR, no manual trans will beat the quick shifts of that trans and no manual will be able to keep up.

Same goes for the new Lambo's and such.

Although my car is a 6 speed manual transmission, computers do shift faster than humans!

I could give a rats a#s about what a computer can do for speed, nothing replaces doing it yourself, PERIOD! Yes I know Ferrari and Lamebo's have paddle shifters now, atleast Porsche is holding out (except for the upcoming 991 turboN PDK only) Driving is supposed to be about feel and I'm sorry, I don't want it being done for me! Just like electric steering, sucks, drive a Lotus Elise/Exige or old 930 turbo and feel that manual steering goodness!

Just stating the obvious KLASSE...I love driving my 6 speed.

I can definitely agree with the worth of a well tuned automatic that can shift much faster than any human can.

However, I do agree that manual is more about the act of driving and the feeling itself. I'll always enjoy a row your own 6 speed.

Oh I knew what you were saying for sure. Looks like Chevrolet and inparticular Corvette owners are way ahead of the game with autotragics, well the pretend ones anyways, atleast they "get it" with Z06's and ZR1's having 3 pedals only, as it should be!

Now sorry to offend anyone, but I do understand why autos are so popular is regular, everyday, everywhere, all the time, all over the place, been there, done that Corvettes though, look at the average owner of em', that explains it, also explains why the seats are the way they are too, a combo package, those seats and autotragic, what a pair:-(

All my cars that I have owned have been manual, I am not a fan of automatics.

Speaking for owners of sports cars, if one is going to own a sports vehicle, they should at least experience the joy of driving it with a standard transmission [at some point in their lives]--automatic makes me cringe :/ ...unless you have a disability that does not allow you to do so, that's another story.

Long live manual!

My car is a 5 speed manual. The new 14 Forester XT is the first auto we've had that I actually didn't mind not having a manual on. Boost comes early and quickly, and you have power all over the place. The new hd cvt is highly under rated imo. Now, I don't think I'd feel the same way with the less powerful na engine pairing

Well said NSX-R and I agree with the last part of your statement about a disability and thus needing an automatic. As far as huge boilers making you lazy and opting for an automatic, well get a 300 SRT8, skip the sportscar, they make cars that fit you much better!

I'm also appalled that even Lotus offers an autotragic in the new Evora, what is the world coming to, my God!

3 of my 4 cars are manuals, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I could have gone with the PDK for my Porshce, which would have been no doubt faster, but I'm not tracking the car and not going for tenths of a second. The PDK is one of the best dual-clutch units on the market, and I wouldn't object to having one, I just have a preference towards the 6 speed.

Everyone knows manuals are going away and probably won't be around much longer. That's why I'm getting every minute I can with one before they are gone forever.

It's worth noting that some cars are better with a dual-clutch. The new BMW M cars for example. BMW isn't putting money into developing their manuals anymore so they are extremely lacking and over a generation old tech. In those cases you would be better off with the dual-clutch. I'm embracing the new technology, but keeping a special spot in my heart for the old-school manual.

Traditional Automatic < Manual ≤ Dual-Clutch

I have a 4-speed in the car in my avatar. For $3800 I can put in a Gear Vendors Overdrive and only have to shift once and press a button and get 7 more gears(8 in total).Thinking about it if I can hide it from my Wife.

Uhm.....just look at my avatar.........:)

Yeah I like that avatar, thanks for hooking me that up on the CRZ site:props:

Hey Jay, I can't argue any point you made about the PDK, although I've never driven one I believe what I hear about them for sure, everyone can't be wrong, right? That said, Porsche themselves have stepped up and developed the first ever 7 speed manual, surely that wasn't a cheap venture, so there's life left in the 3 pedal equipped cars!

IMO one the stick goes away completely, I wouldn't be surprised if 3 pedal cars become highly coveted once people get a year under their belts. I just don't know why the enjoyment of driving is being taken away from perf cars, I mean most people drive them to get away from the ordinary and now they are becoming just that!

Absolutely. That shows Porsche's commitment to the manual gearbox. In fact, I wrote to them and thanked them for keeping it an option on some of their vehicles.

Part of the reason I got mine with a stick was for the unique non-PDK factor, that someday may be seen as highly-collectible.

God forbid one is left in an emergency situation in which the ONLY mode of transport to help out of that situation is a manual transmission vehicle.

Kids should learn to drive with a manual transmission. After a period of competency then unleash them on a transmission of their choosing, but manual should be mandatory. IMO. :)

2007 RX8 6MT.. loved it.

A manual makes you have to pay attention to driving, thus should be a fixture when learning how to drive, IMHO!

Imagine a Lotus Elan w/ a 3 spd autotragic.....EEEEK!

Good thread here! 3 of my vehicles are manual, and one is automatic (my D/D T/A). To me, it's a give-and-take situation when it comes to trans choice. Guess which one cuts the quickest times at the dragstrip and is also best in heavy traffic? Automatic. Which ones are more fun to drive, and give you complete control over how the vehicle acts in any given situation? Manual. To me, it just depends on personal preference and what you're looking to do with the car. Both have their place.
