I am in the need to get a new camera, I am in between two. Was curious if anyone has either, I know we have a couple photographers in here and semi pro's.
Let me know if you have any feedback, I am in between a Nikon D200 SLR and a Fuji S5 Pro SLR.
Thanks!:grouphug:

Well its kinda like private labeling, they are both really Nikon from what I hear anyway. Just a matter of which one is more functional.

May I ask why you arent looking into Canon?

Don't ask me, you know I don't know! LOL!!! Yea we have a few camera guys here... Thinking about up grading myself...

Go with the Nikon D200 SLR.

And I will take your old one, since you are just going to let it collect dust:p

You can't go wrong with Nikon, I have a D40 and it is a wonderful camera, my father was big into profesional underwater photography for awhile, and regular photography his whole life, and he swears by Nikon, theyve always been the best.

That being said, I have heard that the Cannon offerings in the digital SLR stuff is excellent as well.

My sister had a cheaper point and shoot digital Fuji camera, I was not impressed with the quality of it.

Nikon has the better optics of any 35 Mil camera except for Leica Camera's. You get what you pay for in Nikon.

Fuji's aren't really Nikons, just the bodies are made by Nikon. I'm pretty sure the important parts like the sensors are Fuji's.

Keep the Canon in mind as well, but out of those two I would go with the Nikon!

why not get a big pad of paper and some markers? That way you can put your personal touch on everything

If you are going to do alot low light shooting go cannon. The high iso's on cannons are great. The d 200 is a fine pick though

I say go for a canon too. I love my XTi. But if you have your heart set on one of those two, go for the Nikon.

Here is a great site I have used for years for reviews.
Steve's Digicams - Main Menu

As for a Canon, never! Just wont do it, since I started making a living with the camera, it has always been Nikon and Fuji, I cannot stray now.
I have used my Fuji S2 Pro for over five years, it has seen many weddings, done a lot of sports pics, and a ton of portraits. Including the abuse it has taken since I have been at the Geek! It has been a wonderful camera and I have gotten my money worth.:applause:

The Nikon D200 received good marks from Consumer Reports.. excellent in image quality, battery life, and ease of use. Fuji was not rated..

Nikon D200 rating on Amazon is 5 stars (97 reviews). The Fuji is 4 stars (of 5) with only 4 reviews..

Nikon D200 - CNET Editors Choice 8.3/10. CNET Users Rating 8.9/10

Fuji F5 - CNET 7.7/10

Personally, I would go with the Nikon. I've always heard good things about them... :)
