Ford Focus Pillar Correction

I decided to test out my new Griots Garage 3 inch polisher along with a tangerine Hydrotech pad from Lake Country on a swirled out rear window pillar on this 2012 Ford Focus.

Before:

Process:
- ONR Wipedown
- Clay w/ medium clay bar
- HD Adapt on a Tangerine Hydrotech 3 inch pad on the Griots Garage 3 inch polisher, speed 6, medium pressure.
- HD Polish on a Blue Buff & Shine 4 inch pad with the same machine on speed 6, light to medium pressure.

It's not 100% perfect, but as the photos show the swirls are no more!
 
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze or Menzerna SF4500 on a finishing pad will knock the last bit if haze out of that pillar

Drop the speed down and you will get leas hazing on softer finishes

Thanks for the tip. I should be in receipt of some red pads shortly. I do have SF4500 in the aresenal. :dblthumb2:
 
Thanks to allenk4 for the suggestion. I found a red pad and tested out some SF4500 and here is the final result:

how did you even manage medium pressure on the GG 3"?

it bogged down on me like crazy..... picked up a Rupes 75 mini after lol

Really? I just got the GG3 i believe it is version 2. I used a Hydrotech 3 x 7/8". Perhaps the pad you were using was too thick? I placed a mark on the backing plate, so I'm positive the pad was spinning properly.

What type of pad were you using?

i had the newest one whichever it is. i was using a Buff and Shine 4" green or blue pad, forgot which one.

i put a LITTLE bit of pressure and it stopped spinning completely. (also put a mark on my backing plate)

i then looked for reviews on here and found that most people have the same problem. i sent it to GG and they sent me a another item i asked for (excellent customer service!)

the Rupes on the other hand is AWESOME
 
The pillar are pretty soft. I used a polish (V38) on a white pad. First try got rid of most of them, second time they were all gone and the pillars were nice and shiny.

Maybe the 4 inch pads just don't play well with the GG. I was able to get it to work with the two pads I tried. I just can't see dropping that much money for the Rupes.
 
For such a simple little project/ demo, this is an informative thread! :xyxthumbs:
