Ford Focus ST

Won't be doing anything this year but probably a CAI and ECU tune sometime down the road.
I like that its quiet when cruising, but when I open it up you can hear it.

The stripes are on for a few years regardless now. I put clear bra on the front end.

I am not normally a stripe guy but I will admit those look good on the car! :props: My neighbor has a red ST2. I've driven it a few times and it's a nice car. It is one quiet car on the outside though, that noise you hear on the inside when you open it up is Ford's Active Sound Symposer (A.S.S.) piping in engine noise. I think the marketing guess missed that one. Make sure you go get the Motor mounts taken care of. There is a TSB about it, so Ford will replace all 3 for you. I thought my MS3 was bad but the ST really bangs against the firewall when you shift. I guess it comes with the stock Focus RMM......

I'd replace the muffler as long as the appearance was the same. I really like the triangle-ish appearance of the stock muffler. I don't much care for the louder than necessary mufflers, but I love smokin some punk in a civic with a fart-can exhaust that thinks I'm driving a normal Focus hatch.

I'd like to pull out the MyFord Touch headunit though.

nice looking hatch, congrats on the new ride...

Very nice car, I sat in one at the auto show and was very impressed how comfy the seats were.

Your referring to the exhaust tip, right? I too like that and yeah, you'd be able to keep that. Removing the muffler would not make it sound like that Civic you wanna smoke thinking your a regular Focus, but then again the stripes will make him look closer at your ride. Check your Focus forums to see who's removed that muffler and what they think of it, cheap mod, big results!

So glad I didn't get my ford touch. Sync has its moments and I wanna take it out but I really do like the blue tooth.

Idk if you're on there yet but focus fanatics is a pretty good focus forum with a lot of good info for the mk3 focus.

The sync in my '12 SEL wasn't as bad as this. I find my STs to be slower to respond and can't handle multiple voice commands at once.

Example is I would say "USB play song xxx" itd work. My ST I have to say USB, let it acknowledge. Then say play song xxx. Essentially giving it two separate commands rather than one.

I don't understand it. Its got the latest version I believe, but they seem to operate differently.

If I would have ordered my ST rather than just buying it off the lot I definitely wouldn't have put myford touch on it. I do like the sony stereo though. The built in nav is nice, but I'd prefer to scrap the whole touch screen crap.

Technology in a drivers car, kinda stupid if you ask me!

Voice control is becoming common place.
Its unfortunate that ford hasn't got it right because on the surface level it seems like it can be useful. I like changing songs without taking my hands off the wheel, or plotting a route on sat nav. The system has bugs, otherwise it'd be okay.

Make sure you update to the latest. There was an update about three weeks ago that fixed some bugs. 3.6.2 is the one I have on mine.

The brake dust is notoriously bad on the ST's, I don't think the regular focus's are as bad. Just two days of commuting to work makes the wheels look as if they hadn't been touched in weeks. Sealant helps with washing them though. I just dilute shampoo and water in a foam gun and the brake dust washes off easily.

I put some wheel wax on the face, hopefully that helps. Ill give them a proper cleaning before they go into storage for the winter. Can I apply a normal sealant (I have CG M-Seal) on rims?

Our wheels are painted and clear coated so any long lasting sealant used for the car exterior should be safe on the wheels as well. I haven't used any wheel specific waxes though. Which one are you using? Are you using the wheel wax brand?

With so many wheels being painted and clearcoated not sure why more people just don't use on their wheels what they use on their cars. A designated wheel wax is just another way for these companies to make more money IMO!

I thought you had to use a specialized product that could stand up to the heat the brakes give off.

I bought chemical guys wheel guard. It comes in a paste-wax container, but its pretty goopy.

Not sure what is added to something like "wheel wax" but since a sealant is more durable and handles heat better I'd rather stick with your favorite sealant. No matter what you use though, because of the heat and use of wheel cleaners, its going to need to be applied more, not really a problem with most of here on AG!

Get outta here with that kinda talk you dirty hybrid driver!!! I guess the La Ferrari is not your taste then, driver's car with technology........Im the MAN

Love the white with the blue stripes. Personally, I wish the stripes were a hair darker to match the blue on the Ford oval badges. Maybe it is, but in the pics they look like 2 different blues!

The camera can't actually capture the way the stripes look in person. In bright light they almost seem to glow. But they're definitely lighter than the ford badge. Theyve got lots of metallic flake.
