Ford Focus ST

I wish we had some of the colour options that I've seen on some of the UK models. I really like that panther black and dark blue. Mars Red would be nice on an ST.

I really wanted the performance blue but all I could find were black, white and red ones. The orange color they put on the fiesta st's is nice.

I really like that orange also. The PB was the only car I actually saw. My dealer only had the one car, and still have not received another ST.

I recommend getting a clear bra. I put one on my ST, I'm glad I got it.

I have been toying with the idea. I just don't like how they look after 5-7 years. The car that this replaced way a 1999 Elantra we (my wife) bought new. She had it before we knew each other.

I'm okay with the idea of replacing it after 5-6 years. I'd rather have that then road rash and chips. I had a 2012 Focus SEL for a year, it had several dozen chips.

The stuff they make these bras from is a lot higher quality than what they used a few years ago.

Sorry not trying to take this thread on an amazing looking car off topic.

I am really trying to decide between the Focus ST3 and the GTI. The GTI is more expensive but has a nice more “adult” interior & ride IMO. I have test driven both cars and am really torn. I like the extra power and easier tuning ability the ST3 offers but love the ride quality and every day drivability of the GTI. My one issue is that with my RSX TypeS I am averaging 30-32mpg and I hate to give up the fuel economy. I also feel like the RSX is one of the best laid out cars in the interior as everything is located and spaced properly and nothing feels cramped. Heck if Honda / Acura would bring back the RSX / Integra I would jump all over it.

I think if you had the full leather seats of the ST, you'd think the interior of the ST is "adult". The colored inserts on the lower trim level of the ST definitely look a little more for the younger drivers. I've got the full leathers and I think they look very handsome.

I also get about 35-40 mpg in my daily commute to work.

Just my opinion.

Thank you for the input. I did get to drive a '14 ST3 with everything I wanted minus mud guards & rubber mats. So in reality I drove the car.

Part of me feels like the seats are a little to aggressive for everyday driving. Where as the GTI seats are very nice and comfortable but not as aggressively bolstered. This is great for the boring daily commute but not really for the aggressive fun driving.

I guess when I said "adult" I meant that the ST looks a little more "boy racer" with its gauges, layout, tech. Thats not a bad thing at all because I like & would plan on upgrading the ST slightly.

Part of me looks at a GTI and says it is nearly a perfect "every day" car for me the way is sits stock. But the ST has that "fun factor" that is hard to put a price tag on.

Troy the 2015 GTI Mk VII GTI should be even better than the current model based on the reviews I have read. Should be a bit more powerful with more totque and improved upon in several aspects over the current model. Looking forward to the release in the US this year.

Here is a quick review capturing some of the details:

I haven't seen a ST with mud guards or rubber mats from the factory. What I have seen is people add the rubber mats from Ford, and they don't fit near as well as Huskey liners or WeatherTechs. The mud guards are not a fitted or molded kind, and really don't look good as they are just a flat piece of rubber. The molded ones for the Focus don't fit around the ground affects that the ST has.

On my focus I went with the oem ford mats bc I liked how they say focus. But I don't like how they barely cover anything on the driver side. As for the mud flaps the oem ones look pointless. I went with gorilla mudflaps, same as rokblokz, and I couldn't be happier. They keep off a good amount of muck and they look way better.
