I must admit, the FORD GT was *THE* north-american car I wanted to detail most. I was thrilled when Alex told me he could hook me up with one owner. I was looking forward to this moment and I would like to thank you again. Also, I got even more excited when Guillaume Boily, a neat montreal photographer, told me he was free that day and could come over to shot the whole process!

He took over 200 pictures and I got to chose the one I wanted, all were low-res 1mb so none were edited, what you see, is true result.

Finishes with 2 layer of Definitive Wax Number One
We also used Sans-ZO tire shine for this detail.

Nettoyage des roues :

For the wheels, we used Sonax Wheel cleaner, this is probably the best wheel cleaner on the market, Raceglaze brushed and the wheel woolies to clean inside the wheel. You can buy both the Sonax and Raceglaze products at VAG motorsport.

We then tape molding in order to protect them from beeing hit and damaged with our polisher.

This is some sort of slight rubbing damage that we will try to polish out even tho inside car paint is usually quite thin.

As you can see, we always put our cord over our shoulder, this way you elimate the risk of creating marring on the paint because of the dirty cord touching the paintwork.

Down to business!!

Work in progress..

This is one heck of a tight area to work with:

o97f.jpg

Now that the step1 is done, the compound step left hologram, buffer trail that need to be refinished to a higher gloss, so I went with an intensive polish to tackle this job

Headlight polished!

Maudit beau set-up ça!

Since there's no plastic wheel wells, all the dirts goes very easily inside the motor compartiment, so althought it's not over dirty, it sure has dirt everywhere that need to be cleaned and dusted off.

Step 2 : Rotary with polishing pad and intensive polish

Inspecting my work again:

Step 3 : Final polish on Rupes machine for extra power correction. This step is needed to polish out all the slight haze the intensive polish could've left on the paint.

8xt.jpg

Step 4: Jeweling step on the Rupes ( usually you heard about jewelling on rotary, but I like the result I get with the rupes so why not ?)

I must take one minute to tell you about those holes, which I named the black hole. They just go so deep and with 90 degrees curve, they are very hard to polish perfectly. Actually you need to polish them by hand around the edge because the risk of burning the paint with the machine is just too high to take the risk. You also have no choice than to bend over to polish this area hence why it's very important to wear a microfiber appron to not risk the chance of marring the paint, just like the cord of the polisher on the paint.

Step5 : Applying Definitive wax Number one to the paintwork. I gave 2 coats of this awesome glossy stuff.

eqq7.jpg

Wearing the Microfiber gloves just to avoid the chance of putting finger grease on the paint.

I found the carbon fiber missing a bit of gloss, so decided to take the 3 inch polisher and polish this as well as the door interior.

Freakin amazing. All I can say is you do amazing work and get to touch some bad azz rides. If you don't mind me asking, do you own that whole shop or just rent a space. You guys are sure not hurting for car lifts. Beautiful work once again and thanks for sharing.

Man, I really loved reading through this post and looking at the amazing pictures! Looks awesome!

What's your shop situation? Are you renting a space in a high end mechanic shop or tire shop? Is the whole thing yours? Where are you at? Shop looks awesome!

Beautiful car and fantastic results, nice work area too!!

I would be lying if I say all these lift are made for detailing LOL! There would be a problem with quality control lol! I am affiliated with this shop and own a space in the garage and have space upfront for reselling products.

Absolutely amazing. You did a killer job!

Thank you sir.

Great work!

thanks :)

Love the car; love your work; love your photography skills!! Tres bien monsieur!!!

I really think being in a really high end mechanic or body shop, or something similar is one of the best setups for a detailer. Whether you own a bay or rent a space, it's ideal as you can just pay a percentage of utilities, rent etc, and have access to tons of tools, lifts, etc.

The best part is that you are surrounded by awesome cars every day!

I almost moved to a body shop in my area this year. In the end, it wasn't quite as high end as I was looking for. My shop is decent, so I really need to find something incredible like the one in these pics, to justify moving.
