I detailed this 2000 BMW 740iL. It was covered in scratches on every panel. I started it at 7:00 pm on Friday night and worked through till midnight. I had the garage door open and lots of lights on. I was getting inundated with mosquitos that kept landing and staying on all the top panels. I would blast them off with the air compressor but they'd come back after 30 seconds or so. I would have worked longer but the nuisance factor was too high. I don't know what the attraction to the polished paint is, but it is strong!! Finished the car on Saturday after 8 hours (7 on ext/1 on int). I'll let the afters speak for themselves.
The Process:
wash and clay with clay magic
wheels and wells got 303 cleaner initially and car wash soap after
1st tried SIP with green ccs pad to remove the scratches but was ineffective
yellow wool pad with Presta cutting creme @ 2300 rpm
Micro polish with blue ccs pad @ 1000-1500 rpm
RMG with gray ccs pad @ 1000 rpm
FMJ by hand
Collonite by hand (great duo for protection)
Interior got good vacuum, treat rubber mats, 303 to interior and wiped after, glass cleaned

Funny about the bugs, I too was working in my garage this weekend and left the garage door open and I didn't get bothered too much...mind you I wasen't polishing I was just installing some lights in my garage...oh I should post some pictures :D...hey maybe the mosquitos want to detail there wings...you know for more aerodinamic ;) hahahahaha.

All joking a side the vehicle looks incredable...well done.

Great Job! Sometimes I wish I had a black car.

My friend gets trying to get me to detail his cars. He has a old black Porsche 928 and a black Mercedes 500SL. Maybe one of these days I'll do one just to have a chance to do a black car.

that rocks! what a job you did there! congrats!!!

Thank you. Actually the clay result was not as spectacular as I would have expected. What really made it jump was the wool pad and the presta. Now to be fair, I did not try the SIP with the wool pad. I had read somewhere that Menzerna does not like to play with wool...so I had the Presta and just used that. That 1st step got rid of 98% of the marks. Then the micro polish gave it the jump and the RMG gave the wetness..each stage was a pleasure to see the results reveal themselves.
I also forgot to mention a really important part of this detail that mirrors every other one I do..I enjoyed a damn fine cigar doing it!!!!!!!!

Super job Richy....what a great turn around....the reflection shots look wild...lots of bugs..must have been a bug orgy....

Again Super job
