Found a way to Speed up network file transfers on 100Mbps networks

Actually guys!

I found something better go here:
broadband help » All Forums

You're ISP (internet service provider) should be listed in there forums, click on that and there should be a plethora of info on what other users are doing to "Tweak" there setups. I was looking over speedguide.net and noticed some stuff is out dated. Sorry I'm fuzzy as all heck today LMAO

As for comcast users, don't change anything. You should have the "speed" boost that comcast opened up for certain areas.....you will have to check with there website to see if your area has speed boost.

First of all, do a speed test on your connection. Then search for a very small program called "TCP Optimizer" and download it and install it. Move the slider to your rated speed and set to "optimal settings" at the bottom. It will automatically set all of your perameters to the speed you set. Restart your computer and go back and do the same speed test. This program works! This is for cable or dsl connections. Post your results so I can see:cheers:

If you can't find the program, PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you. It's very small.

dengood1 can you give the name of were you found the program so i can google it or something.

Make sure you CLEAR out all cache after the first test, because doing the same test again will result false speeds. Due the info being cached in the browser etc....

Just did the TCP opt and it has slowed me down.

odd......what did you have the slider set to (speed)?
3000kbps mine went down to
1.4 megabits per second
Communications 1.4 megabits per second
Storage 167.9 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 6.1 seconds
I want to remove this program but haven't figured out how. I looked in Add/Remove programs and don't see it. Do you know how?

set the slider to 5000 or 6000, then click "optimal settings" on the bottom and you should see gains. If you don't then simply click on "file", then "restore Windows default settings". Odd that you don't see gains.....mine REALLY went up when I installed it. You can also click on "custom settings" and raise the "max connections" to 20. See if that makes a difference. You don't uninstall it, you just simply delete the shortcut and it's gone.

Wyt & Killr

You both have DSL, my speed test is on Cable. DSL max's out at 6.0mb where as cable goes further (speed wise).

However if you want to do a firmware upgrade you gotta call bellsouth, they have certain ways of doing it for there customers due to there equipment.. Idk if it's gonna make a diff on dsl though... worth a shot..

Your speeds look fine though 3.0mb, good speed.... I'd leave it but if you crave "mo" power! LOL

Firmware updates in "engrish" lol basicly like this, windows always has updates right? well the companies that make your DSL or Cable modem sometimes put out updates for their hardware. Usually these updates are small fixes and some are large. Some range from security to actual speed increases due to the company manf. found a glitch or a way to pull some more speed.

With cable modems there are alot of updates and ways to "tweak" the speed or latency, ping times etc..... it's like a huge pipe? with alot of water flowing through it?
