Just replaced my windshield today. Yeah it is new and perfect.
Any advice, other than daily cleaning to keep it perfect ?

Is it worth while to do a sealant ? If so which ?

As long as I am on the subject.. Anyone have experience and can compare Diamondite with Stoners as a window cleaner.
They both kind of look the same with similiar hype & types of applications ie: aerosal and pump..

Does "Rain Repel" work like "Rain-X" ? I was not too stoked on that stuff.

We have to get a new windshield on our 2006 Relay, as a rock smacked it hard Monday coming home from Vegas!

So I would be interested in hearing the answer to your question too, Largebore!
Congrats on the nice new window. Let us know your finding too.

IMO it works better because it super easy to apply, no streaking and seems to hold up really well.

any advice on windshield repair kits? do they work at all? i was hoping we could avoid replacing the windshield on a garage queen van with low mileage!
sorry - i did not intend to thread hijack, largebore!:o

I let a local glass guy do all my repairs and if he says it can't be repaired he replaces it.

Im sure repairing the windshield is a lot cheaper than getting a new one

Yes it is, but I have no experience doing it myself.

i got a couple of cracks fixed on my truck and it cost around $35

I should put up a picture....a rock, one big splat right in the middle!

I've used Diamondite Shield with excellent results. Does a great job repelling water, makes bug clean-up easy, and lasts pretty long IMO. The last time I applied was in March, and I'm just going to re-apply on Friday. Application is easy -spray it on the window, allow to haze for 5 minutes, then buff off.

TT your insurance company. I had a chip on my last car. If I remember correctly they sent someone out for free (or next to nothing) to repair it. If I didn't like the repair job they would replace it for free!!!! It's worth a phone call.

Thank you, Tanya, but my husband does not carry zero deductibles as I do - and you must too. I want to say for comprehensive, which that would be, he has a 2 or 5 hundred dollar deductible; the collision one is the lower one, so, in that case, we have to pay.
But that was super kind of you, Tonya!:) You rock!

You might want to double check about the deductible (check your state's laws). By law, in Florida your insurance company must replace the windshield with 0 deductible, regardless of normal comprehensive deductible since it's a safety issue.

Massachusetts is also O deductable on Glass...

AL

Ugh ok, guys and gals. What happened to my thread on taking care of my nice new windshield ?
