A friend of mine fom work bought a new 2007 Lexus in dark grey. He has
always had nice cars and always had white. He always comments on how
well I keep my truck up and looking sharp. He showed me his new Lexus and
asked me for suggestions in how to keep it looking sharp. So I show him the
Autogeek site and showed him the Detailing Tips tab on the site. He started
out asking about washing and product suggestions and what he could get local to start taking care of his new car. He was amazed at all the details that
go into taking care of a car. So I gave him some Poorboys products and a
few Microfiber towels and showed him on the Site what they were and why
we use them. U think I have a convert on my hands. I told him to feel free
to ask anything anytime and would try to help him out. He wanted to pay
me for the stuff I gave him and I said forget it, I have plenty. I really want
to help him take car of his new pride and joy. I hope I help him out.:cheers:
 
It truly is nice to see sometime take the time, expense, and pass on the knowledge of detailing. What he does with it is not up to you, but kudos for effort.
 
The first thing he told me ws the dealer would wash it anytime he takes it in. I advised him against that big time. They might do the right thing, but I doubt it. I told him that most fanatics about detailing request that the dealer not even prep the car before delivery.
 
Maybe he will join the forum and become obsessed like we are. So much info here!
 
I did the same for my Bro Saturday. He purchased an 04 SUV with the paint in excellent condition . I mention the paint because its rare to see a vehicle from the dealership in that good of shape. I see one earlier in the dealers lot with buffer trails all the way down the driver side. That was of cool of you to help out the neighbor :applause:
 
I agree Belcherm. It's great to spread the awareness. I love to talk about detailing with people too and give them tips and suggestions. I too have given products away to get people started, but I've found that some people just want the results and when they find out the amount of effort it takes the products wind up sitting on the shelf. If this gentleman has always had nice cars and likes to keep them that way then I'm sure that you did indeed convert him. :) Maybe he'll join the forums?? That would be nice. :)
 
He has always had nice cars but white is a very forgiving color for swirls and
if you are not use to mirror reflections, then you do not see the difference.
He always kept his car clean via the full service car wash. He said that
he used a bath towel to dry when he washed it his self. I gave him a
sheepskin mitt and the old two bucket method and a Cobra WW towel and
PB's Spray and Wipe to dust and drying method. I expalined the lubricity of
the S&W and dirt was the enemy of washing and drying. I talked to him about
polishing and he was out of that. he said he would pay me to do that.

When I bought my wife her first Caddy , CTS, we went to have an oil change done. They are trying to beat Lexus and offer Cappichino's and complimentary washes. BLAH ... BLAH .... BLAH

So being the nosey one, I decided to walk back into the detail area and see what they did while pretending to look at stock units. I see them washing an Escalade with a broom. Now please understand, I know the difference between a broom and a brush made for trucks. This had nylon plastic fingers and I swear was one of those pool cleaning brushes with bristles !

I ran around to the front ... screaming like a little panzy... DO NOT WASH OUR CAR. To date, you cannot put our VIN number (even from the new SRX) and not see "DO NOT WASH" print out more than 3 times on any invoice or repair request. I never even got to see what system they use for cleaning, it was enough to give me heart palpitations.
