Received my DP Gel Wheel Cleaner on Friday and decide to do the front wheels. As the wheels will be removed fron Nelly (my '07 Sonata), I decided to add a new layer of rubberized undercoating and clean the plastic fender liners.
The morning started warm, sunny and very dry. Having done this before, I knew the front wells would take about four hours. I started at 8:45 am and finished a little after 1:00 pm. I'll do the rear wells in a week or two.
Materials List:
> Hydraulic floor jack
> Stand
> Wheel chock
> Meguiar's ACP at 4:1
> Mothers' FX SynWax (on wheels 'cause I had it in my stash)
> Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant (on plastic parts)
> CD2 Engine Detailer (on struts, break guards, also in my stash - isually use Stoner's)
> 3M Rubberized Undercoating (over factory undercoated parts)
> DP Gel Wheel Cleaner (on wheels)
Started with the wheels - really packed with break dust and road dirt.
ONE coat of DP, dwell time of 30 seconds (it started to dry after 30 seconds - as I said, it was dry today!). Aggitated with a medium soft brush, rinsed with water from hose. I was impressed!
Now for the wheel wells. Rinsed with water, applied Meguiar's APC, aggitated with medium soft brush, rinsed and allowed to dry.
Before pix:
I wrapped some parts with aluminum foil before applying 3M Rubberized Undercoating.
Applied Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant to plastic parts using 1" and 2" foam brushes. Used CD2 on struts and break guards.
After pix:
Thanks for looking at my four hours of work!
Regards,
GEWB
