Full Detail and Paint Correction Steps

I've been doing a lot of reading on here and plan to do a full detail and paint correction next week on my black Mustang.

Here's the steps I plan on using:
Wash with Meguiars Gold Class
Compound - Megs 300 and MF pad
IPA wipedown
Polish - Megs 301 and MF pad
IPA wipedown
Sealant - BackFire Wet Diamond (what pad?)
Cure 12 hours
Wax - BlackFire Midnight Sun (what pad?)

Car was clayed a few days ago...do I need to clay again? Please let me know if I should change anything.

If you keep it clean in between you shouldn't have to reclay it. I'm in a similar situation. I just keep it cleaned up until I get a chance to finish it.
 
All the ipa wipe downs are not needed.
Wash
Clay
Mf correction D300 clean pads often with compressed air
D301 if you choose. Not ideal if using wet diamond
Wet diamond any finishing pad
Midnight sun by hand

Why isn't it ideal with the wet diamond? What would you recommend instead of the 301? Thanks for the feedback!

The D301 is a finishing wax. The way D300 finishes it's ready for wax application so doing Wet Diamond after D300 is fine the followed by the midnight sun
 
I have never really found myself using the D301 that much it's a good wax but I have wet diamond and that being a sealant the durability is much better than that of the D301. If you want to add in a polishing step after D300 you can use a finishing polish but that's all up to you.

So finishing wax is a carnauba wax?

Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish (pad?)
Blackfire WD (finishing pad)
Blackfire MS (by hand)

Which pad would you recommend for the polish?

Any polishing pad will work. I use Meguiars 7inch polishing pads I'm not too sure ont the lake country pads on what would be the best

:iagree: No need to IPA wipe between 300 and 301.

Those two play together VERY WELL! Much better than I was wanting to admit before I got used to using them. In fact, most guys would tell you to move straight to a foam pad and finish. MF pads just are not supposed to finish as well as the 'system' does, but it does do well, really well.

Just make sure you CLEAN the MF pad. Not just brush it, and FORGET ABOUT trying to clean it with a towel. Compressed air after each and every section pass. Run it in and out a few times, reversing direction of the spinning pad a couple of times even. You'll be amazed at how much junk (and old paint) comes out of the pad(s). Not only that, but they fluff up really well too! :) Use them carefully and you can do the entire car with 2 MF pads (of each type). Can't do that with foam! It's even possible to blow out the MF pads and sit them to the side, going back to them later without worrying about them gunking up and the 301 drying out in them like it would in a foam pad. Heck some guys will just blow them out and put them in a bag to use the next day, (or next week). I'm not that forgiving though.... I'll hand wash all mine at the end of each day. ;)

As for the BF, just use a nice finishing pad, green (ccs) black or softer should be fine.
