Full Detail in one day? Is it possible

It is but it's very very very dependent on the severity of the vehicle and how neglected and hermity the dirt monsters are

I did another today and have another tomorrow. It's a daily thing

Nah man, we tend to disagree and that's fine:)

Glad you didn't take it personal. If we're not allowed to disagree every now and then what's the point in having a discussion forum

I worked at a Chrysler dealer for 20 yrs and I was the only detailer. I was able to full production detail on a Dodge Caravan in about 6 to 7 hours as long as I had help getting the seats out

Using a rotary polisher?

That will shave several hours off a job.

And of course when you get your routine down you can save a lot of time there too.

I believe you that it's possible to do it that quick in those conditions.

IMHO it all depends on the condition of the car and the quality level of the detail. I can only speak for myself. A quick once over production type detail can be done in one day. I have done paint correction work on some cars that took more than two days to get the paint up to speed. And then maybe some paint work after that.
As we all know there is a huge difference between normal production daily driver detail and a full out show car Concours D’Elegence type of detail. Your mileage may vary. One man one day to me equals a production type detail. We used to call that 60 mph detail the car looks good driving by at 60 mph.

I agree with the gentleman saying a full 2 step correction and interior is not really feasible in a day. I did a 2 step correction on my black Acura TSX last week with the intention of doing it in a day....it turned into 2 full days since I wanted to do it right.

I don't know about you guys but every car I get to work on is trashed and mostly large trucks.

The only way I could do a full correction and interior I'd have to pull out my rotary, a wool pad and have someone follow me with a DA and still would be hard for me to do it all in one day.

Now if I'm working on a car that's in decent shape I could do a one stepper using my DA and Meguiar's D-151.

Maybe it's due to my age (49) with back issues, maybe if I was 20 years old I could do it but still I'd have to start at 7am until about 10pm with only very short breaks.
More power to you guys that can do it all in in one day alone.

I'm not talking about production work I'm talking about doing it right. Production work is all about cutting corners and saving time which I will never do!

I hear ya! I'm 43 and when I do a 12 hour job with no breaks I ache for 2 to 3 days. I think he worst is doing interior détails, you have to contort to all sort of weird positions and that makes the muscles that are not used to work cry for help ;)

Paint correction is not as demanding I would think.

I went to an interview for a detailing business that claimed to be able to complete a full restoration and interior detail in 4 HOURS... He wouldn't tell me how he did it, but there is no way i believe him. Unless he damages the vehicles integrity doing the harshest methods without testing first.

Has anyone on here done this type of detail?

I am not even sure what it would entail.

I know at SEMA the Riddler candidates have mirrors and lights underneath the car

Ridler Award Autorama / World of Wheels / Cavalcade of Customs

Here is a video of a Concours preparation....Cost $12,500

This one shows them prepping a version of the famous "Eleanor". They are removing orange peel...from the engine compartment!

If I'm spending two days on a car trust me I'm getting paid for it. My complete detail package with no paint correction takes me any where from 6-8 hours todo. This is why you should always start your prices as starting at and set a price.

Like how you HAVE PAINT CORRECTION then DETAIL PACKAGES
Pure Shine Auto Detailing - Services
I beleive it's better to seperate the two from the bootleg detailers doing quick dollar jobs and having customers confused, that is why I often refer back to this link: Question: Do you need full paint correction or just a detailing? | Ask a Pro Blog
So that folks know DETAILING is a THOROUGH cleaning, but PAINT CORRECTION is correcting paint defects mainly by skilled use of machinery via buffer/polisher which in FULL DETAILING machinery (BUFFER) is solely used for AIO (minor correction) or waxing and compounds/polishing falls under PAINT CORRECTION then they may be able to understand why most CHARGE HOURLY ($45,+) for TRUE PAINT CORRECTION due to time required and different product usage

Thanks :) two of my package do have paint correction but my main one says add paint correction for $45hr. I will not do paint correction on a car if a customer is going to an automated car wash! All the car washes by me are not touchless and it's a huge waste of money for the customer and a waste of my time if their gong to not take care of the paint. If your don't not ask or educate your customer or ask them if their going to use and automated car wash you are ripping them off! I see a lot of people doing paint correction everyday and makes me wonder are they educating their customers or just ripping them off? I'm very ownest with my customers when talking about paint correction and if there not going to take care of it after I tell them and AIO is all they need. When you gain their trust and are ownest that spreads very quickly.

Thanks for understanding my rant, lol

Well this this has been a good read. I've read all these claims over the years about how quicly people do work and every time I finish a job I look back and can't figure out how the heck I could shave much time off. The recent Tahoe detail I did interior plus one step polish and then seal which took me a little under 9 hours.

I find that hard to believe really a Tahoe in 9hrs and the interior! There is no way you did a complete interior cleaning on it. Just the prep time for the paint correction should've taking you at 3hours if done right.
