I'm debating whether to buy the Sidekick or pony up the extra cash and get the full size blaster. My area has really hard water and using one of these to dry with sounds like it would be just the thing to prevent water spots. My question is will the sidekick have enough power to dry a midsize suv in a reasonable amount of time? The full size blaster has a substantially larger motor that seems like it would dry at a much faster pace, but will it have too much power that i would have to worry about blasting water into unwanted places on my motorcycles?

I have the Master Blaster and use it on my truck. If you keep your vehicles well maintained then I think you could use something smaller and get the job done but I don't think the sidekick will do it. I'd have to check the specs on it but I think with a single 4hp unit it could be done fine. If they don't have a sealant or wax on them then it will be much harder with something smaller. I

I have the Sidekick and I am impressed with the volume and velocity of the air it moves. Another plus is heat from the motor is directed through the nozzle so the additional warmth brings an additional component to the game.... :props:

I have the sidekick It has more than enough power . I contimplated getting the larger unit as well. But the sidekick works so well I can't justify the cost . You won't go wrong with either.

Bobby- I completely overlooked the fact that the full size doesn't heat :dblthumb2:

I guess my other issue would be ease of handling. The sidekick would plug right into my polisher extension cord and it's hand held, where the full size unit would require moving the unit itself and managing the blower hose. The sidekick just seems a little more convenient. I might be leaning toward sidekick unless someone changes my mind before I place my order tomorrow.

I have both, the metro sidekick is great for cleaning wheels. i dont use it anymore because I have the master blaster. Remember it takes a 20 amp breaker to run both motors.

The sidekick doesnt do anything for drying a car, use the master blaster its the only way.

It does provide heated air. Here are some findings from another thread. Although quite pricey, it does offer multiple uses around the garage or possibly in the home. It is also sold as an animal dryer.

Equipment:

  • 1 cooking thermometer and held it by the head and not the stem.
  • 1 8 HP Metro Master Blaster
Ambient 78 F (matched another thermometer)

4HP Mode
Exhaust outlet - 118 F
End of hose - 120 F

8HP mode
exhaust outlet - 133 F
End of hose - 139 F

The exhaust port has a 1-in outlet, the hose it closer to 1/2-in so that may explain the temp rise but I was thinking there would be more heat loss in the hose. I guess the air is moving fast enough to not get cooled as much.

The air was uncomfortable to hold at on 8HP mode once temp stabilized. If I redo it, I will try some fixture to hold the thermometer. It takes over a minute for the temperatures to stabilize.

I have the sidekick. It's small, lightweight and does the job. 'Nuff said.
